Job Description
The Territory Manager is responsible for representing BD across the Portland, Oregon Market including North and South Oregon region, driving sales growth, and expanding market presence within hospitals and surgical facilities. This role focuses on achieving sales and profitability goals by managing existing accounts, developing new business, and positioning BD as a trusted product and procedural expert.
The Territory Manager provides hands-on clinical and technical support during surgical procedures, delivers product education and in-services to physicians and OR teams, and maintains a deep understanding of BD’s product portfolio and distribution channels. Additional responsibilities include advising customers on product updates, pricing, and policy changes; resolving customer concerns; attending tradeshows and customer events; and supporting bid processes through surgeon specification.
Responsible for attaining sales goals established within the designated territory and budget. Responsible for growing sales of current accounts and establishing new accounts. Positions self as a product specialist. Presents, educates, and provides in-services on the process/procedure of accurately using the products to surgeons, OR staff, and other individuals. These duties include, but are not limited to:
Providing on-site technical support during procedures to ensure accurate product usage.
Training and educating physicians and hospital staff on the use of the products.
Maintains detailed knowledge and capabilities of the Company27s products, channels and methods of distribution.
Responsible for meeting territory sales and profitability goals.
Responsible for developing new prospects and establishing customers.
Advises customers of new and current products, backorders, order status, pricing structure, company policy changes, and forecasts for additional needs.
Achieves timely solutions to customers27 complaints.
Keeps promises and appointments. Exercises courtesy and ethical manners at all times.
Attends customers27 meetings and tradeshows. Gives detailed post-convention report: number in attendance, competitors present, product introductions, and recommendations for subsequent shows.
Establishes products as the standard for bid accounts through surgeon specifications.
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor27s Degree required.
Minimum of 2 years sales experience, medical sales experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and planning skills.
Detailed understanding of the needs/analysis approach to sales.
Understands the product buyer concept.
Understands contract administration.
Understands principles of group purchasing to include research, formulating and recommend proposal.
Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license with 3 years of consecutive driving history and meet BD's auto safety standards.
Must be able to meet and maintain customer/medical facility access requirements, including regular or periodic drug screenings with a satisfactory result in accordance with the requirements of the customer/medical facility serviced.
Ability to travel at least 60%, including overnight travel.
