APM Terminals Elizabeth is seeking a Terminal Equipment Technology Manager to lead the strategy, governance, deployment, and performance of operational technology assets across the terminal. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, resilience, standardization, and continuous improvement of critical operational technology systems that support safe, efficient, and technology-driven terminal operations.
Working closely with operations, IT, global functions, vendors, labor stakeholders, and project teams, you will help deliver modernization initiatives, support the Elizabeth Upgrade Project, and ensure both legacy and emerging technologies provide sustainable value to the business. This position combines strong technical expertise with people leadership and cross-functional partnership to enable operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the terminal equipment technology strategy as part of the broader Operational Technology (OT) roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities and global standards.
- Manage the deployment and integration of existing and new OT solutions, ensuring testing, operational readiness, and successful implementation.
- Drive technology asset reliability, resilience, and performance through structured problem-solving, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead and develop the terminal equipment technology team responsible for operational technology solutions including Smartport, Asset Digitalization systems, ABB crane OCR, and related technologies.
- Manage relationships with OEMs, vendors, and system integrators to ensure delivery against performance, quality, cost, and timeline expectations.
- Collaborate with operational and technology stakeholders to leverage technology solutions that improve productivity, safety, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements, enterprise IT standards, and applicable labor agreements while supporting change management and incident response activities.

- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industry 4.0, or a related field.
- Proven experience within container terminal operations, port digitization, industrial automation, or large-scale industrial environments.
- Strong expertise in Operational Technology environments, including systems such as PLCs, SCADA, PDS, CCS, RFID readers, CAN bus, ECUs, and related technologies.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including development and execution of Project Management Plans in complex deployment environments.
- Proven leadership capability with experience managing teams, stakeholders, technology vendors, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and enterprise IT standards within operational technology environments.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC card and Port Access Card.
Salary: $90K - $120K
Location: Elizabeth, NJ (5 days in office)
