Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)



This is a Temporary position limited to no more than 9-months.

Job Summary:

The MIBH currently seeks a temporary (9-month) full-time licensed Speech-Language Pathologist who will work within the MIBH interdisciplinary team. The responsibilities of this position focus on direct patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide exceptional direct evaluation and intervention within an interdisciplinary clinical care team, interacting directly with physicians, allied, behavioral health and integrative care providers.
• Primarily engage in patient-centered cognitive-communication assessment and intervention, with additional care in speech, voice and swallowing as clinically indicated.
• Demonstrate skill in clinical screening and referral for needs in allied fields and services (e.g., Audiology, ENT, Gastroenterology).
• Provide clinical treatment and education for patients and family members regarding communication strategies and cognitive strategy support.
• Promote improved quality of care across the MIBH by emphasizing understanding and integration of strategies to support foundational components of TBI-related persistent symptom improvement, with a primary focus on cognitive functioning, auditory-related problems, and communication.
• Participate in collaborative clinical team rounds, decision making, and administrative staffing.
• Successfully communicate with colleagues and staff (both written and verbal), shifting communication style as dictated by the communication partner.
• Uphold ASHA, CU-AMC, CU Medicine, and UC Health standards for ethics, patient documentation, confidentiality, and other related procedures.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
• Masters' (or higher) Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
• Hold a current ASHA CCC certification
• License to practice in State of Colorado or ability to obtain Colorado licensure
• Minimum of three years clinical experience working with individuals with traumatic brain injury, including persistent post-concussive symptomatology

Preferred Qualifications:
• Five years' experience in direct patient care in an outpatient setting
• Experience working with active-duty military service members or Veteran
• Effective teaming skills and experience working on an interdisciplinary provider team
• Advanced certification such as Certified Brain Injury Specialist or ANCDS-BC
• Interest/experience with engaging in clinical research
• Clinical practice documentation experience utilizing electronic medical record systems such as EPIC

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels within a dynamic workplace
• Ability to maintain a positive and cooperative attitude
• Ability to organize and prioritize with minimal direction and maintain a well-organized work environment
• Ability to problem-solve, use good judgement, and work with varied and difficult personalitie
• Ability to search and critically review best evidence to guide clinical decision making and effectively share knowledge with colleagues as well as communicate relevant findings in appropriate language to the general public
• Ability to set objectives, establish priorities and follow initiative

• Current knowledge of or willingness to learn about military culture
• Effective written and verbal communication skill
• Proficient computer skills including the ability to work with a variety of application
