Temporary / Full-Time Position

We are looking for a temporary Lead Wardrobe Technician. The main objective includes working as part of the Wardrobe management team to smoothly run the daily operations of the Wardrobe Department. All duties are to be performed in accordance with department and property policies, practices, and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills as well as refined technical skills in costume/craft maintenance and repair. As the Lead Wardrobe you will work in collaboration with the artists and other technical teams to achieve a smooth-running show both on-stage and off.

The Lead Wardrobe Technician will:
  • Assist the Head of Wardrobewithteamscheduling and management;
  • Manage day/eveningcrewsby holding daily shift meetings to clearly communicate work objectives;
  • Communicate costumemaintenance and show notes to the crews;
  • Oversee laundry and dry-cleaning needs during the day/evening shifts;
  • Set up and maintain quality work practices and maintenance techniques;
  • Identify costumes that are aging and bring them to the Head of Wardrobe's attention;
  • Set up and run show tracks and maintain them as needed; Participate in track rotation as needed;
  • Work with technical management to establish and maintain training and backup plans to ensure continuity of performance operations of the department in the event of unexpected failure of a system, component or piece of equipment;
  • Assist in managing the costume inventoryandorder projection;
  • Assist with the inventory, orders, procurementand tracking of the department'sexpenditureand equipment;
  • Assist with fittings on active costume pieces when needed;
  • Promote and develop team-oriented philosophy stressing the importanceofproviding unparalleled commitment to excellence in service;
  • Perform other tasks as requested: assist in PR events when needed; cover additional duties when HOD is away. Maintain a flexible schedule for work calls, special events, rehearsals, training, maintenance and evening show performances;
  • Ensure equipment and supplies are stocked in sufficient quantity to ensure the on-going needs of the production;
  • Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
  • Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods;
  • Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support;
  • Complete all other job-related duties as assigned.


The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • At least three years of previous experience as a professional Costume Technician with working knowledge of costumes, craft, shoes, wigs and make-up application;
  • Previous experience leading project's and crew;
  • Previous experience working with home/commercial sewing machines and specialty machines;
  • Working knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of SAP and Photoshop is an asset;
  • Professional appearance and demeanor;
  • Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts;
  • Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays (specific shifts not guaranteed);
  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken;
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 30 course completion card;
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs unassisted, etc.; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer. Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is $44.13 USD/hour.This rate is location-specific and compensation in other geographies may vary.
