Overview

Responsibilities

AS The TEMPEST Engineer you will:

  • Provide specialized emission-security engineering to protect classified information from compromise through unintended technical emanations.

  • Perform technical assessments, support secure system and facility design, evaluate risks associated with equipment placement and processing environments, and develop mitigation recommendations consistent with applicable Government standards.

  • Coordiante with system engineers, facility teams, security personnel, and authorization stakeholders to integrate emission-security controls into classified processing areas and operational configurations.

  • By documenting findings, validating protective measures, and resolving technical issues, the TEMPEST Engineer reduces compromise risk and helps ensure that sensitive systems and spaces maintain the engineering protections required for secure operation.

    Essential Responsibilities:
  • Perform TEMPEST and emission-security engineering assessments for classified systems, equipment, facilities, and processing environments.
  • Evaluate technical configurations, equipment placement, signal paths, facility features, and operational conditions for compromise risk.
  • Develop engineering recommendations and mitigation measures that address identified emission-security vulnerabilities.
  • Support secure-facility and system design reviews to integrate TEMPEST protections before implementation or modification.
  • Coordinate technical activities with system engineers, facility teams, security personnel, and Government authorization stakeholders.
  • Prepare assessment reports, engineering analyses, technical drawings, test documentation, and corrective-action records.
  • Verify implementation and effectiveness of approved emission-security controls through review, inspection, or technical evaluation.
  • Advise leadership and technical teams on TEMPEST risks, standards, design tradeoffs, and required protective actions.
Qualifications
  • relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline plus 14 years of directly related work experience.
  • Experience must include support to Special Access Program and Sensitive Compartmented Information environments
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively across Government, contractor, and external stakeholders; prepare briefings, reports, standard operating procedures, and official correspondence; and lead a team in fast paced classified environments.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility; must be able to meet any applicable Special Access Program eligibility requirements identified by the Government.
Pay Transparency StatementAMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $133,000.00/Yr. - USD $222,100.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
