Primary Duties
The Telecommunications Sales Representative carries out sales and customer-account activities to support the achievement of assigned telecommunications revenue targets. The position prospects for customers, gathers requirements, presents approved solutions and maintains customer relationships within established sales, pricing, technical, and contractual parameters.
Major Responsibilities:
Develop and execute territory and account sales plans, prospecting for and qualifying net-new business opportunities among target market segments through research, referrals, networking and partner channels. Qualify leads using established criteria and sales processes.
Conduct discovery with business and technical decision makers to identify customer requirements and coordinate with management and technical staff to confirm next steps.
Maintain regular contact with assigned customers in accordance with account-contact plans. Identify and document potential service expansion opportunities, and account activity plans for review with management staff.
Monitor customer requirements, competitive threats and service concerns, coordinating renewal activity ahead of contract expiry and developing retention strategies for accounts exposed to competitive pressure to review with management.
Translate customer requirements into opportunity briefs, coordinating technical and commercial input from technical team members to develop feasible, competitively positioned solutions using approved sales processes.
Prepare and present quotations, and standard service proposals, that clearly communicate solution value, service levels, pricing and contractual terms to customer stakeholders.
Assist management and other internal resources with the preparation of non-standard proposals and tender responses.
Communicate approved pricing, service and contractual terms to customers and support routine commercial discussions. Refer requests for discounts, contractual changes, non-standard terms or other exceptions to management for direction and approval.
Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, activity and forecast information in approved systems, managing the sales funnel through defined stages and preparing monthly forecasts, activity reports and win/loss analysis to review with management.
Gather and document customer feedback, competitor information and relevant market observations encountered through sales activity. Provide this information to management to support sales, service, and pricing decisions. Participate in approved business-development and networking activities to generate contacts and potential leads within assigned market segments.
Complete handoffs of signed opportunities to delivery teams and participate in post-sale reviews to drive continuous improvement.

Intermediate knowledge of telecommunications solutions and services, including dedicated internet access, Ethernet, dark fibre and wireless connectivity
Intermediate knowledge of computer networking with the ability to understand and explain business requirements to both technical and non-technical audiences
Intermediate knowledge of privacy, confidentiality and information security requirements as they relate to sales activity
Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements as it relates to individuals, the organization and operational requirements.
Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required
Post-secondary diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Telecommunications, Information Technology or related field, or an equivalent combination education and experience.
3-5 years' experience of progressively responsible business-to-business sales, account management or business development experience.
Experience selling telecommunications, connectivity or other technically complex services, particularly to enterprise, public-sector or carrier/wholesale customers is preferred
Class G drivers' licence
