Full Job Description
Responsibilities

  • The Network Engineer designs and plans network communications systems, including voice, video, and data communications commodities.
  • Provides detailed Layer 1 solutions for multiple communications disciplines to include but not limited to copper and fiber infrastructure, PA and Aural Warning, and A/V solutions.
  • Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Work with engineering staff in performance of requirements analysis, technical solutions, test criteria, integration plan, and installation solutions and recommendations.
  • Conducts cost/benefit analysis and provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • Responsible for monitoring network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options.
  • Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network. Advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations.
  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.


Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology Management or technical discipline is required or 10 years' experience
  • Experience in network architectures and design
  • Working knowledge Microsoft Office tools specifically, Excel, Word, Visio and Project
  • Ability to quickly connect in-person and in writing, and to actively listen and perceive the needs, values or opinions of others
  • Demonstrated leadership accomplishments professionally and personally
  • Proactivity in identifying and addressing challenges to include innovations that result in positive organizational impact
  • Proven experience in industry standards including BICSI, ANSI, EIA/TIA, UFC, and local and National Electric Code.


Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • BICSI RCDD Certification preferred

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
