Full Job Description
is currently seeking a Telecommunications Engineer to support a large-scale U.S. Army IT Services Program based at Fort Rucker, AL (formerly Fort Novosel). This position is a full-time role that will be onsite. As a Telecommunications Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, engineering, maintaining, and modernizing telecommunications infrastructure that supports critical Army operations, ensuring reliable and secure communications across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, engineer, and maintain telecommunications networks, including fiber optic, copper, and associated outside plant infrastructure.
  • Develop network designs, route plans, construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and complete bills of materials for telecommunications projects.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, utility companies, municipalities, and permitting agencies to support successful project execution.
  • Review engineering plans, construction documents, and work orders to ensure compliance with organizational standards and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate with the customer's Network Enterprise Center (NEC) to modernize cable plant records and asset documentation.
  • Conduct field investigations, site surveys, and feasibility assessments to support network planning and engineering efforts.
  • Support telecommunications construction projects through design reviews, quality assurance activities, and technical oversight.
  • Analyze network performance and identify deficiencies, including severe weather-related infrastructure risks, while developing solutions to improve reliability, capacity, and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare engineering reports, technical specifications, project documentation, and executive summaries.
  • Support development of capital and operational budgets, project forecasts, and resource planning initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and industry regulations, including safety standards and requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance during network outages, emergency restoration efforts, and service disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records, network documentation, and asset inventories.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend infrastructure improvements and modernization strategies.
  • Participate in strategic planning efforts supporting long-term network growth and telecommunications infrastructure investments.
Requirements:
  • Active Secret Clearance required.
  • 3+ years of telecommunications engineering or related experience.
  • Experience with telecommunications infrastructure, network engineering, installation, and maintenance.
  • Understanding of WAN/LAN environments, VoIP systems, and telecommunications technologies.
  • Experience supporting DoD, Army, or government telecommunications environments preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and technical communication skills.
Compensation to include:

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 *depending on experience
