Technology Lead - Modernization & Enablement
Company:The Boeing Company
The Modernization Office is seeking a
Technology Lead - Modernization & Enablement (Level 5) who will serve as an org-wide coach and change agent who will help design, embed, and cascade new technology solutions that will help Digital Services deliver at pace. This role's customer is our Digital Services Technology team in
Englewood, CO;
Plano, TX;
Puyallup, WA.Position SummaryThis role carries two primary areas of focus.
The first, and dominant, area is hands-on technical change enablement - designing, building, and delivering alongside all Boeing Digital Services software and product teams to work faster, ship with more confidence, and operate more efficiently. You are expected to contribute directly to the codebase, prototype features, deliver executive level dashboards and build the internal tooling that teams rely on. You will also design the technical training and enablement programs that help other developers adopt these tools and ways of working - grounded in the same hands-on experience you bring to work yourself.
The second area is AI/ML technical expertise and program visibility - providing technical guidance on latest AI / ML ways of working and platform solutions, and supporting the Modernization Office Lead with the metrics and reporting needed to demonstrate that modernization is delivering measurable value.
Success in this role looks like software development and product teams that ship faster and with greater confidence, an internal AI toolchain that is well-architected and actively used, and a Modernization Office that can point to concrete technical outcomes as evidence that this transformation is real.
Position ResponsibilitiesModern Technology Onboarding & Adoption- Own the end-to-end onboarding process for new modern technologies, AI-powered tools, and updated ways of working introduced as part of the modernization program
- Write automation scripts, build integrations, and contribute directly to internal tooling to reduce the friction of adopting new technologies-making it easier for teams to do the right thing (rather than the old thing)
- Own implementation follow-up and adoption tracking, monitoring usage and surfacing friction at the technical level - not just surveying teams, but diagnosing root causes and fixing them
- Partner with the Modernization Office Lead and platform teams to sequence technology introductions in a way that minimizes disruption while meaningfully accelerating delivery speed, confidence, and efficiency
Technology Enablement & Training- Design, build, and deliver technical training programs that equip software developers DevOps practitioners, and product teams with the hands-on skills to adopt AI-driven tools and modern development practices
- Develop a comprehensive library of enablement assets grounded in real implementation experience - code walkthroughs, hands-on labs, quick-reference guides, e-learning modules, and self-service learning paths built by someone who has done the work, not just described it
- Facilitate live training sessions, workshops, and office hours that go beyond slides - getting into terminals, editors, and pipelines alongside teams to build genuine technical competency
- Translate complex AI and platform concepts into accessible language for non-technical stakeholders when needed, without dumbing down the technical depth required for software development audiences
- Foster a Center of Excellence environment where developers share reusable patterns, implementation learnings, and best practices-building a community of practice around AI and modern delivery
Modernization KPI Dashboards & Insights- Directly build, own, and maintain the suite of KPI dashboards that provide real-time visibility into the progress and health of Boeing's modernization program across software performance and delivery.
- Proactively identify new data sources, instrumentation gaps, and emerging signals that can expand the organization's ability to measure modernization progress.
- Partner with software and platform teams to ensure reliable, well-structured data pipelines feed the dashboards - identifying gaps in instrumentation and working to close them over time.
Program Visibility & Modernization Insights- Build applications that move our collective team away from documents and into shared self-serve spaces for status reporting, tracking, etc.
- Work closely with the Modernization Office Lead to translate adoption activity and technology progress into clear, leadership-ready reporting that demonstrates the real-world impact of the modernization program
- Track and communicate core adoption indicators - including tool usage rates, onboarding velocity, and engagement trends - alongside relevant software development performance metrics such as MTTR and deployment frequency
- Build and maintain dashboards and reporting views that give the Modernization Office and executive stakeholders a credible, consolidated picture of transformation momentum and delivery health
Cross-Functional Technology Partnership- Build strong working relationships with software development - leads, software architects, platform teams, and product managers to understand how modern technologies and new ways of working are being adopted in practice-and where enablement gaps are creating friction or slowing teams down
- Serve as a bridge between the Modernization Office and technical teams - advocating for technology decisions that are grounded in practitioner reality, not just top-down direction
- Contribute to the Modernization Office's broader program visibility by connecting technology adoption trends and metrics data to the larger transformation narrative
- Participate in technology evaluation and selection processes, bringing an enablement and adoption lens to ensure that new modern technologies can realistically be absorbed and activated by the organization
Continuous Improvement- Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of enablement programs and dashboards - retiring what is not adding value, deepening what is, and filling gaps as the modernization program and the technology landscape evolve
- Codify enablement approaches, dashboard templates, and instrumentation patterns into reusable frameworks that can scale across teams and generations of technology.
- Stay current on emerging practices in modern software delivery, AI-driven tooling, DevOps, and software development metrics to ensure Boeing's approach reflects the best of what the industry has learned.
