Position Overview

In the Needham Public Schools, the Technology Integration Specialist plays a collaborative role on a district-wide team, focusing on enhancing digital learning through instructional coaching, technology integration support, professional development, and the evolution of the media and digital learning ecosystem. The technology integration specialist acts as a teacher-leader, offering support, coaching, and various forms of professional development within their school-based community and throughout the district.

Reports to: Director of Instructional Technology and Innovation, K-12

Instructor & Specialist:
  • Collaborate and/or co-teach with classroom teachers and librarians to seamlessly integrate information and technology skills into current units of study and classroom curriculum.
  • Assist teachers in designing universally accessible teaching experiences in which students leverage technology to solve problems, interpret and analyze information, practice new skills, and create products of learning.
  • Consult with general and special education teachers on appropriate technology tools and environments that embed student technology literacy skills with curriculum goals, student learning expectations, and specific learning needs.
  • Support and coach teacher use of technology in the classroom
  • Provide professional development to staff through coaching, courses, workshops, and demonstration lessons that incorporate new and emerging technologies.
  • Provide education and guidance for students and staff regarding digital citizenship and the district's responsible use policies.
  • Participate as an active member of the school and district instructional technology teams and the Media & Digital Learning Department
  • Model ways in which technology can help to promote effective and emerging teaching and learning practices, in particular, the use of emerging technologies such as generative artificial intelligence
  • Teach technology classes, as assigned

Technical Advisor
  • Collaborate with district staff on technology initiatives, and planning for maintenance, supplies, hardware, and software needs.
  • Provide technical support and comprehensive training on educational technology and the Learning Management System (LMS) for teachers, students and staff to ensure effective school-wide implementation.
  • Consult on future technology needs with the Director of Instructional Technology and Innovation, the district-wide Technology Integration Specialist team, the building principal, administrative leadership teams, and teaching staff

Technology Learner
  • Participate in workshops, seminars, and courses to learn about technology innovations, changes, and updates with a keen eye toward emerging technologies
  • Participate in local, state, and national associations that provide experiences with new technologies.
  • Participate in technology-related activities that foster personal growth and maintain a current knowledge base.
  • Engage with new digital tools and technologies and learn to use them and teach others how to use them through tutorials, self-paced exploration, and practice.


Qualifications:

  • Current Massachusetts DESE license for K-12 Technology Integration Specialist or DLCS 6-12 License required
  • Classroom teaching experience is strongly preferred.
  • Instructional coaching (technology or other area) experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience using instructional technology tools and resources is required, with experience using Apple hardware and software/operating systems (MacOS, iPadOS, iOS), Google Workspace for Education (including Gemini for Education), and Instructure platforms (Canvas LMS).

Salary is determined by education and experience, ranging from Bachelor's (Step 1) $63,217 to Doctorate (Step 14) $133,922 (This range is based on a 1.0 FTE).
