Overviewi3 is seeking a Technology Innovation Specialist in support of the U.S. Army Launched Effects Product Office in Huntsville, AL at Redstone Arsenal. The Army Launched Effects (LE) Product Office develops and fields cutting-edge LE systems to enhance Soldier lethality, survivability, and situational awareness.
You do not need to be a traditional engineer; the ideal candidate deeply understands the U.S. Army, Academia, Industry Innovation and the Department of War Science & Technology (S&T) ecosystem. You must be passionate about leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI), Autonomy, Robotics (UAS/UAVs), and emerging tech for military advantage. You will monitor future technologies, serve as a critical liaison between commands, drive doctrine and track major demonstrations to act as the vital communication link between government offices, centers of excellence, and industry innovators.
Responsibilities
Futures & Technology Scouting
- Industry Scout: Actively evaluate new UAS/UAV and AI technologies, keeping leadership informed of market breakthroughs.
- Program Tracking: Manage and report on innovation funding and transition vehicles
- Technology Transition: Facilitate tech transition agreements at Technical Interchange Meetings, Home on Homes, and PMRs.
- Roadmap Management: Maintain the S&T Need List/Roadmap for the portfolio and manage monthly LE updates.
Liaison & Integration
- Institutional Alignment: Serve as the primary liaison to Centers of Excellence to institutionalize LE capabilities.
- Cross-Organization Integration: Liaise with other Service UAS PMOs, Special Operations Forces (SOF), and embed with forward-leaning Unit Innovation Organizations.
- Intent Communication: Represent the commander’s interests, facilitate cross-organizational cooperation, and manage Hot Topic Lists and event calendars.
Demonstrations & Exercises
- Event Tracking & Planning: Identify, plan, and synchronize LE participation in major events
- Exercise Documentation: Maintain an Exercise Book for situational awareness detailing milestones, POCs, and Distinguished Visitor (DV) information.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Army & S&T Acumen: Deep understanding of U.S. Army operations, structure, and general Science & Technology processes.
- Tech Passion: Demonstrated knowledge of and passion for emerging technologies, specifically AI and UAS/UAV platforms.
- Communication & Trust Building: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build consensus across military and industry organizations. Briefing and report-writing expertise for senior leadership.
- Independence: Self-starter capable of prioritizing high-impact tasks and thriving in a fast-paced environment.
- Clearance: Active Secret Security Clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain a Clearance).
- U.S. Citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- S&T Network: Familiarity with major defense technology organizations (e.g., DARPA, SCO, CCDC, AFRL, ONR).
- Liaison Experience: Prior experience representing a commander or staff officer as a Liaison Officer (LNO).
- Acquisition Knowledge: Experience with DoW acquisition, rapid prototyping, and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) technology integration.
