Raytheon's Naval Power (NP) strategic business unit (SBU) specializes in multi-domain integrated shipboard missile defense, advanced airborne maritime sensing and electronic attack, airborne strike effectors, large surface radar, undersea and subsea warfare sensing and effectors. Focused on program execution, business growth and the highest level of customer satisfaction, the NP team provides customers with unmatched capabilities of detection and sensing, surface shipboard defense, and air-to-air, air-to-surface, and surface-to-air munitions.

The NP SBU Engineering tram is looking for a sub strategic business unit (SSBU) Technology Director. We are searching for a Technology Director (TD) to lead the technical development and research and development (R&D) of a portfolio of missiles in Tucson, AZ. This onsite SSBU leadership role requires engagement with senior leaders, multiple engineering teams, and external customers.

The TD is responsible for ensuring that technical roadmaps are in place for the programs, setting the technical baseline on development efforts in partnership with the Chief Engineers, developing the key technologies for the roadmap through external, internal R&D (IRAD) and New Business Initiative (NBI) funding, and aligning those activities to the programs' Long-Range Plans (LRP). The TD is expected to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with the programs' customers, the program directors, and the technical community.

This position is 100% onsite in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do
  • Lead cross-functional engineering teams through concept development and technical baseline definition.
  • Lead technical aspects of proposal development and collaborate with program leadership to meet cost and schedule requirements with the technical baseline.
  • Take responsibility for Software/Hardware architecture definition and maintain alignment with program leadership and the office of the chief engineer.
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and guidance to IRAD activities.
  • Mentor and guide engineering teams.
  • Allocate initial system requirements within emerging architectures.
  • Identify and manage critical items and technologies in product definition.
  • Review technical documentation, including engineering development plans and system architecture.
  • Collaboration with Customers, Suppliers, and the technical community.
  • Assignment will require travel (25%-50%).

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 14 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Decomposing customer needs into product characteristics and developing technologies to meet those characteristics.
  • Experience developing executive level leadership communication and persuasive arguments around a business case using standard financial proactive that communication Return on Investment (ROI) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR).
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required before the start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

The salary range for this role is 186,200 USD - 353,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
