Full Job Description
SMS is seeking a highly experienced Technology Advisor/Site Lead to provide senior-level technical leadership, strategic guidance, and operational oversight in support of AFCENT A6 enterprise IT services across the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility. This position will serve as a key advisor for network operations, systems engineering, cybersecurity operations, mission network sustainment, and IT project execution supporting contingency and wartime operations.

AFCENT's mission is to deliver combat-ready air, space, communications, and cyberspace capability for USCENTCOM, helping maintain security and stability throughout Southwest Asia. We support the AFCENT Commander, USCENTCOM, coalition and joint partners, and warfighters who rely on NIPRNet, SIPRNet, partner networks, and other command-and-control systems. The AFCENT NOSC program is focused on running and protecting a 24/7 enterprise network and systems operations, including cybersecurity, engineering, maintenance, and technical support, keeping the AFCENT's theater communications and IT infrastructure ready, secure, and available to effectively execute the AFCENT mission.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist the AFCENT A63 Technical Director, USCENTCOM, and HQ Air Force with developing the goals, objectives and implementation strategies for IT services provided throughout the enterprise, including countries in the USCENTCOM AOR.
  • Provide management oversight, strategic guidance, and technical direction across the NOSC functional areas for IT operations, networks/systems engineering, and cybersecurity operations, and other support functions.
  • Ensure appropriate Operation and Maintenance (O&M) actions are taken on all mission networks to ensure AFCENT users mission effectiveness.
  • Apply System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) concepts and principles in engineering activities.
  • Assist with the planning direction and execution of AFCENT network operations projects supporting USCENTCOM contingency and wartime operations.
  • Provide technical coordination and research to exploit cutting-edge technologies, assisting with technical and status updates for briefings and reporting on IT subjects.
  • Participate in strategic planning conferences and working groups and provide recommendations.
  • Review technical project documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare briefings and presentations in support of IT initiatives.
  • Assists with developing/modifying standardized training to meet AFCENT NOSC mission requirements.
  • Assist project leads with determining project scope, resources and schedules, and with general project management as required.
  • Coordinate technical visits from DoD activities, contractors, and commercial vendors.
  • Represent AFCENT A6 during technical exchanges with DoD agencies, commercial vendors, and foreign partners.
  • Meet with key vendors and other organizations to represent AFCENT A6 requirements.
  • Provide general O&M support as required.

Required Qualifications
  • M.S. in related field and 7 or more years• relevant experience (preferred); or 10 or more years of relevant IT experience
  • IT operations/services management, training, and firewall experience
  • Network, Systems, and Cybersecurity engineering experience
  • LAN and WAN Enterprise support experience
  • Knowledge of what constitutes a 'threat• to a network.
  • Skill in providing feedback to enhance future collection and analysis.

Certifications Required
  • PMP or equivalent
  • CCNP
  • Trainer Certification (Microsoft, Cisco or Military equivalent)
  • ITIL Foundation • Candidate has up to 60 days to acquire ITIL Foundation certification

Clearance Required
  • TS/SCI required
