Job Summary

The Radar Technician Team Leader is responsible for overseeing a team of technicians, ensuring efficient and safe operations in the laboratory. This role involves closely working with the Manufacturing Assembly and Production Supervisors and assisting with daily work assignments, maintaining equipment, enforcing safety protocols, fostering continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring the utilization of up-to-date software versions and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Attends day-to-day activities, maintaining project schedules, and working closely with Production Assembly and Manufacturing Supervisors on the technical team.
  • When directed, assist Production Supervisors to assign daily tasks based on production requirements, team member expertise and schedule constraints.
  • Address and rectify any constraints or bottlenecks that arise during the workday.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Possible opportunity to travel to various locations in support of customer operations.
  • Works with design engineers to resolve design and documentation issues.
  • Proactively assist team members in resolving technical queries and challenges.
  • Escalate complex issues to the Supervisor when necessary.
  • Ensure the most current software versions and procedures are being utilized by the technicians in the laboratory.
  • Provides guidance and training to Radar Technicians in establishing operation, maintenance, and inspection procedures and techniques.
  • Assist in the training of new hires and cross-training efforts to ensure a skilled and adaptable workforce.
  • May participate in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of human resources to ensure the availability of the required management, professional, and technical talent.
  • Perform any additional tasks as requested by the Supervisor to meet organizational needs.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field and seven or more years of progressive technical experience in aviation maintenance, with some military aviation experience. Equivalent experience in aviation maintenance may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving skills and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with others.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Must possess the ability to resolve supervisory and technical problems and serve as on-site spokesperson.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the practices and procedures of production maintenance as well as leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
  • Must demonstrate technical understanding of manufacturing, assembly and test concepts and practices, with the ability to schedule and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones.
  • The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • The ability to represent the company on external projects.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance is required.
  • Preferred but not required, knowledge of microwave systems, RF test equipment, vacuum systems, and/or complex machinery is a plus.
  • Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations.
  • Proficient in SAR systems, integration testing, and related technologies.
  • The ability to handle common computer tasks.
