YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Energy and Infrastructure UG, you will be part of the Energy & Infrastructure department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot underground UHF leaky feeder communication systems, including amplifiers, cabling, antennas and related components;


  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot underground LTE communication systems, including antennas, cables, network devices, radio equipment, enclosures, and associated field hardware;


  • Perform Level 1 and Level 2 troubleshooting on underground telecommunications systems and escalate advanced issues to the IT Department, Electrical Department or external vendors as required;


  • Work in close collaboration with the IT Department to support the integration, connectivity, and operational reliability of underground communication systems;


  • Work in close collaboration with the Electrical Department during underground installation, maintenance, power-related troubleshooting, and commissioning activities;


  • Install and maintain underground technology systems such as sensors, monitoring devices, tracking devices, instrumentation, controls, and network-connected equipment;


  • Support the deployment, maintenance and first-line troubleshooting of underground Wi-Fi, DOCSIS, fiber optic, copper cabling and other communication infrastructure as required;


  • Perform physical installation tasks including cable pulling, mounting equipment, terminating and labeling cables, installing enclosures, connecting devices, and verifying proper operation;


  • Perform signal strength checks, basic RF verification, continuity testing and equipment validation using approved test equipment and procedures;


  • Respond to service requests and equipment failures to restore underground communication services in a timely and safe manner;


  • Assist Electrical and Instrumentation technicians with underground technology, sensor, communication, and control system-related activities;


  • Follow established installation standards, procedures, drawings, and technical documentation to ensure reliable and consistent system operation;


  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment changes, cable identification, inspections and basic configuration information;


  • Provide hands-on technical support to underground users for communication devices, field equipment, and related services.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Diploma, trade certification, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Industrial Technology, or a related field.


  • Experience installing, maintaining and troubleshooting underground communication, electrical, industrial, or technology systems.


  • Knowledge of underground communication systems, including UHF radio, leaky feeder systems, LTE, Wi-Fi, fiber optic cabling, or similar technologies considered an asset.


  • Experience working in an underground mining environment considered a strong asset.


  • Experience with cable installation, equipment mounting, field wiring, terminations, testing, and commissioning activities.


  • Familiarity with industrial sensors, monitoring equipment, instrumentation, control systems, or connected devices considered an asset.


  • Ability to follow technical drawings, installation procedures, cable schedules, and manufacturer documentation.


  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to safely diagnose and resolve field issues.


  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with IT, Electrical, Operations and vendor support teams.


  • Comfortable working in underground environments and performing physically demanding installation and maintenance activities.


  • Office software knowledge: Microsoft 365 essential.


  • Experience with Sepura, TETRA, LTE, underground radio systems, or mining communications infrastructure considered an asset.


  • Valid driver's license.


  • Amateur Radio Certification considered an asset.

  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;


  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
