Full Job Description
The Role:

As a Technician III, Maintenance, you will play a critical role in the operational reliability of Moderna's manufacturing and support infrastructure in Norwood. You'll lead hands-on activities for preventive and corrective maintenance, while serving as the primary first responder for equipment-related issues. Your expertise will ensure the smooth operation of both GMP and non-GMP systems, driving equipment performance, supporting investigations, and enhancing reliability. The role also includes oversight of service providers, equipment changeovers, and execution of safety protocols. You will work cross-functionally with engineers and system owners and contribute to Moderna's cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities, with the opportunity to get close to the emerging world of digitalization and Generative AI tools for smart maintenance insights.

Here's What You'll Do

Your key responsibilities will be:
  • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on all process equipment and systems, including simple calibrations, in alignment with established schedules and procedures.
  • Leading the development of remediation strategies for follow-up and emergency work.
  • Serving as the first responder to equipment issues and ensuring resolution through hands-on work or vendor coordination.
  • Troubleshooting complex equipment and system malfunctions, developing remediation steps, and overseeing repairs.
  • Managing contract service providers, including scheduling, SOP training, and compliance with cGMP standards.
  • Supporting facility operations with rotating "on-call" responsibilities and responding to urgent facilities needs across a 24/7 schedule.
  • Maintaining spare parts, tools, and equipment inventories to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Administering hazardous energy control and confined space entry procedures in compliance with safety protocols.


Your responsibilities will also include:
  • Documenting all maintenance activities in both paper-based and electronic cGMP-compliant records.
  • Collaborating with equipment owners and engineers to direct vendor service work.
  • Leading small projects and maintenance initiatives as required.
  • Performing equipment changeovers and setup, particularly for filling equipment and support systems like autoclaves, washers, and filter integrity testers.
  • Developing and maintaining OJT (on-the-job training) records, and holding status as a Qualified Trainer.
  • Contributing to reliability initiatives and asset management strategies.
  • Executing additional duties as may be assigned periodically to support operations.

The salary range for this role is $63,200.00 - $100,900.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs.The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
