The WDP extends to Unclassified, Secret, and Top Secret environments, and supports collaboration between Combatant Commands, Joint Staff directorates, Senior Executive Service leaders, and operational analysts.

The Technical Writer - Systems Operations develops and maintains the controlled technical documentation that underpins WDP's system operations, cloud administration, release management, and disaster recovery functions across all classification tiers. This role translates complex operational and engineering inputs into accurate, audit-ready documentation artifacts that sustain mission continuity, support compliance assessments, and enable knowledge transfer across Government and contractor teams throughout the WDP lifecycle.

• Creates detailed System Operations Plan documentation, Release and Deployment Plan materials, Disaster Recovery documentation, Asset Management Plan updates, and Event Management documentation aligned with program management and operational requirements.
• Applies government-approved templates, formatting standards, and document version control procedures to produce consistent, audit-ready artifacts for operational, security, and engineering teams.
• Collects technical inputs by engaging platform engineers, cloud administrators, asset managers, cybersecurity personnel, and mission support teams to develop accurate, comprehensive descriptions of system behaviors, operational dependencies, maintenance procedures, and configuration baselines.
• Participates in technical meetings, demonstrations, and walkthroughs to capture system changes, architecture updates, maintenance procedures, and new functional capabilities for integration into controlled documentation.
• Maintains structured documentation repositories using platforms such as SharePoint and Confluence, applying metadata standards, controlled folder structures, and collaborative review workflows.
• Tracks document revisions, comment resolution, and publication schedules to support recurring updates required for operational reviews, audits, and compliance assessments.
• Produces reference guides, process narratives, user instructions, and system overview materials supporting onboarding, operational continuity, and knowledge transfer across Government and contractor teams.
• Delivers accurate, compliant, and traceable documentation supporting mission assurance, operational consistency, and enterprise readiness.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Current Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• A minimum of 3 years of experience producing technical documentation in a federal IT, defense, or enterprise systems environment, with demonstrated proficiency developing operations-focused artifacts such as System Operations Plans, Disaster Recovery documentation, Release and Deployment Plans, and Asset Management documentation aligned to government-approved templates and version control standards.
• Demonstrated experience collecting technical inputs from cross-functional subject matter experts - including platform engineers, cloud administrators, and cybersecurity personnel - and translating those inputs into accurate, structured documentation that supports operational reviews, compliance assessments, and audit readiness requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate solution.
• Highly developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, with the ability to effectively and professionally interact with a diverse set of stakeholders (from peers to end-users to executive management).
