Responsibilities
- Lead planning, design, writing, and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation: configuration settings, release plans, user/admin guides, SOPs, engineering artifacts, and change/release documentation.
- Establish documentation templates, editorial standards, and versioning policies to ensure consistency, traceability, and compliance with Army, DoD, and enterprise requirements.
- Maintain authoritative, version-controlled knowledge repositories and documentation libraries covering full system and program lifecycles.
- Collaborate with engineers, developers, cybersecurity, training, and policy stakeholders to capture requirements, validate technical accuracy, and translate complex information into clear, actionable artifacts.
- Conduct content reviews and gap analyses to identify inconsistencies and drive corrective actions that support auditability, RMF/evidence needs, and operational readiness.
- Produce high-value materials for decision-making, training execution, and sustainment, and support governance reviews and inspections with audit-quality documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement in documentation practices, coverage planning, and alignment of documentation strategy with evolving architectures and mission priorities.
- Mentor and oversee junior writers, manage editorial workflows, and coordinate publication/release processes.

QualificationsQualifications
- Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
- Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Candidate must meet ONE of the following:
- Bachelor's degree (BS) in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Technical Communication); OR
- Relevant DoD/military training (Pending); OR
- Relevant professional certification or equivalent experience (examples: CompTIA Security+; CompTIA Cloud+).
- Required experience and skills:
- Technical writing/documentation experience with at least 3 years producing engineering, cybersecurity, or program-level documentation in enterprise or DoD environments.
- Proven ability to author and manage technical artifacts (SSP/SAR support docs, CSDs, runbooks, release notes) with strong emphasis on accuracy, traceability, and audit readiness.
- Expertise in documentation tooling and version control (e.g., SharePoint/Confluence/Git), template/standards development, and metadata/taxonomy application.
- Strong technical acumen to collaborate with engineering and cybersecurity teams and convert technical content into clear, audience-appropriate materials.
- Excellent editorial, review, and quality-assurance skills; ability to produce decision-grade briefs and support inspections.
- Desired:
- Prior DoD/ARNG or classified program documentation experience and familiarity with RMF/eMASS evidence packaging.
- Experience with structured documentation standards (DITA/DocBook), automated publishing pipelines, and integration with training/LMS artifacts.

Target Salary Range$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
