Job Description

SAIC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Trainer with expertise in maritime systems integration, operator training, and operational support. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of boat integration, operator education, and fleet support, enabling them to deliver effective training programs for successful mission execution. This role involves hands-on support of boat integration, training operators to perform system functions effectively, managing communications and logistics for operational readiness, and working closely with fleet teams to coordinate planning and training.

This role is in a HYBRID/REMOTE role in San Diego, CA, MUST be local to area.

JOB DUTIES:

  1. Boat Integration Support:
    • Oversee and support the setup, testing, and operation of systems installed on maritime platforms.
    • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to ensure proper system integration.
    • Provide technical guidance and resolve challenges encountered during integration processes.
  2. Operator Training and Development:
    • Develop, implement, and deliver comprehensive training programs to ensure operators are proficient in using maritime systems.
    • Tailor instruction to meet the skill levels of diverse operator groups and address unique operational requirements.
    • Conduct hands-on demonstrations, classroom instruction, and onboard system training for operators.
    • Create and maintain training materials, instructional guides, and evaluation tools.
  3. Communications and Logistics Coordination:
    • Document system functionalities, integration protocols, and operational workflows in support of training and reference material.
    • Act as a liaison between engineering teams, operators, and fleet personnel to ensure smooth operation and communication.
    • Coordinate resource planning, schedules, and logistics to support seamless training and operational readiness.
  4. Fleet Planning and Operational Support:
    • Work closely with fleet teams to understand operational requirements and challenges.
    • Support pre-mission planning, including system preparation and operator readiness checks.
    • Provide recommendations to improve operational efficiency and success based on training and feedback from operators.
  5. Continual Improvement:
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and modify content or approach as necessary.
    • Stay updated on the latest developments in maritime systems and training methodologies.
    • Offer guidance and input for improving system designs based on user feedback and operational experience.


Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelors Degree and five (5) Years or more of relative experience. Years of experience in lieu of degree to be reviewed.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance to start
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in training development, systems integration, or maritime operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of maritime platforms, boat integration, and hands-on systems support.
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering technical training programs for operators.
  • Strong understanding of military or government fleet operations and planning processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with teams, operators, and clients.
  • Proficiency in documenting technical processes and creating high-quality training materials.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to manage communications, logistics, and multiple priorities.
  • Ability to travel to various locations to provide on-site support and training, as necessary.


DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Experience working with unmanned maritime systems (if applicable).
  • Certification in instructional design or adult learning (e.g., Certified Professional in Learning and Performance, Train the Trainer).
  • Familiarity with software tools for training material development (e.g., PowerPoint, e-learning platforms).
