Full Job Description
Description

Do you trust your own eyes and instruments more than anyone else's opinion about what a unit really needs? Are you the person who wants to understand exactly how the mechanical and electrical systems fit together - not just enough to get by, but completely? Does a sloppy estimate or a missed deficiency bother you long after everyone else has moved on? Do you take quiet pride in being the technical authority a customer and a production floor can both rely on?Would you rather get it exactly right the first time than be fast and wrong?

If this sounds like you, then we need to talk...

The Technical Solutions Sales Engineer is the technical backbone of our remount work - the person who makes sure what a customer expects is exactly what rolls off the floor. It matters because every unit we deliver carries people who care for patients, and getting the details right is the difference between a unit that performs and one that doesn't.

What Does a Week in the Life of the Technical Solutions Sales Engineer Look Like?
  • Walks customer units on the floor and through photos, sizing up condition and scope before a single number goes on a quote.
  • Digs into module, electrical, power distribution, and mechanical systems to judge what can be reused, what needs replacing, and what's going to be a surprise during teardown.
  • Builds and revises quote configurations and cost estimates, balancing what the customer wants against what the shop can actually build.
  • Hosts remount check-ins - in person for local customers, virtually for those farther out - and keeps everyone honest about scope and timeline.
  • Runs detailed inspections on remounted units against Frazer, customer, NFPA, and DOT standards before anything ships.
  • Documents findings, deviations, and approved changes so the project record holds up to scrutiny later.
  • Partners with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Quality to clear technical roadblocks and keep projects moving.
  • Owns the drop-off and pick-up handoffs, making sure the customer leaves confident and the AE stays in the loop.

Required Education and Experience:
  • 2-4 years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or quality assurance environment.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field - or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design and electrical circuit theory/design.
  • Experience with power system modifications.
  • Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, gauges, scanners, and other testing instruments.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Certification in Quality Control, Manufacturing Inspection, or Compliance Auditing (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector).
  • Prior experience in emergency vehicle manufacturing, automotive quality control, or remount inspection.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 1917, DOT regulations, and emergency vehicle safety standards.

Skills (to Pay the Bills)

Here's a list of a few competencies that the Technical Solutions Sales Engineer at Frazer should have...
  • You're technical to the core - mechanical and electrical systems make sense to you, and you like proving it with your hands and your instruments.
  • You're precise, and "close enough" bothers you; you'd rather measure twice than explain a mistake later.
  • You read a unit like a story - spotting the deficiencies and risks other people walk past.
  • You document like someone who knows they'll have to defend it, because you will.
  • You can explain a complicated technical trade-off to a customer without dumbing it down or losing them.
  • You stay organized across multiple projects, estimates, and schedules without letting a detail slip.

What's in it for you:
  • A weekly paycheck - you get paid every Friday.
  • Company shutdown from Christmas through New Year's, plus 10 paid holidays and PTO that starts accruing from day one.
  • On-site micromarket, flexible schedules, and a real work-life balance.
  • Free financial wellness classes plus professional development and skills training.
  • 401k with company match, health, dental, and disability coverage.
  • A culture built on honesty, accountability, and continuous improvement - not politics.
