The ideal candidate has a mechanical background and broad technical experience, serving as the 'chief engineer' for investment project deployment. Projects will range from simple equipment procurement and commissioning to complex integrations requiring extensive design and supplier integration. Line/equipment relocations, as well as facility closures, are also in scope.

  • Familiarize with available technologies, suppliers, and trades. Identify and validate lower-cost solutions, if available.
  • Develop project concepts using CAD and other tools that align stakeholders with project alternatives.
  • Develop written equipment and system requirements; ensure Mativ's technical, spending, and performance interests are included in equipment and services agreements.
  • Perform risk analyses and proactively mitigate them.
  • Develop project success metrics and align Mativ to the project proposal and justification.
  • Use project management tools, e.g., Gantt, WBS, risk tracking, and action tracking to effectively and visibly manage progress.
  • Attend factory acceptance tests as necessary.
  • Supervise installation and commissioning activity on site.
  • Up to 50% domestic travel
  • Additional duties as assigned

Work Experience:

Projects must have been at least $1M in size. At least 5 years of experience as a design engineer.
  • Experienced in developing comprehensive requirements, justification proposals, and metrics.
  • Experienced in utilities. e.g., HVAC, water, gas, electrical, and OT network
  • Experienced in process measurement, e.g., sample property testing, inline process measurement, and vision inspection.
  • Experienced in procuring machinery with custom PLC programming and safety requirements.
  • A broad experience in industrial manufacturing processes is required. e.g., polymer extrusion (preferred), coating, paper-making, or automated assembly systems.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Demonstrated conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in describing complex concepts graphically.
  • Skilled in extracting and articulating functional requirements and performance metrics
  • Excellent interaction, collaboration, and presentation skills.
