Technical Sales Support (TSS) (Pittsburgh,PA)

$90,000-$148,000 Annually DOE

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Technical Sales Support (TSS) role is responsible for providing advanced technical expertise to support Winn-Marion's sales teams and customers. This position is designed to bridge the gap between engineering, product knowledge and support, and sales execution. The TSS works alongside sales representatives to deliver technical presentations, develop control narratives, cause and effect, site layouts, recommend and properly specificity products. This role also assists in qualifying opportunities, ensuring the right solutions are provided to customers, and supporting project planning phases. The TSS may contribute to commissioning activities, provide field-level technical support, and act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the sales cycle.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related) preferred.
  • Strong background in instrumentation, automation, and controls required; oil and gas or industrial process experience preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of ABB TotalFlow Automation products as well as general upstream automation, control and communications products and ability to quickly learn new product lines.
  • Demonstrated ability to create technical presentations and articulate complex solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience using tools and working in field environments including areas classified as hazardous.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to support sales teams in customer-facing situations.
  • Excellent organization and record keeping skills required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable MVR required.
  • Previous project planning or commissioning experience is a plus.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Partner with sales representatives to provide technical expertise during sales calls, customer meetings, and presentations.
  • Develop control system narratives, site layouts, and product specifications to support proposals and solutions.
  • Assist with qualifying customer opportunities by asking technical discovery questions and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Support commissioning efforts and provide technical input during planning and early project stages.
  • Maintain expert-level product knowledge and act as a resource for sales reps, customers, and service technicians.
  • Collaborate with service, engineering, operations, and various vendor teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible and aligned with customer needs.
  • Prepare and deliver technical training sessions (internal and external) as needed.
  • Participate in customer site visits, field troubleshooting, and solution validation.
  • Ensure all work and recommendations comply with Winn-Marion safety standards and industry regulations.
  • Maintain professionalism and strong communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain a billable rate of at least 50%
  • Assist with field installations on customer locations

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and competitor offerings.
  • Support development of sales tools, presentations, and technical documentation.
  • Complete required training and certifications to maintain expertise.
  • Provide occasional after-hours or weekend support for urgent customer needs.
  • Travel as needed to customer sites, branch locations, and vendor training.

WORK CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, push, and move up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs, work at heights, or in confined spaces when required.
  • Regular attendance required; may occasionally exceed 40 hours per week.
  • Occasional travel by air or vehicle to support customer and company needs.

Pay Range: $90,000 - $148,000 per year
