Full Job Description
The Technical Project Manager owns intake, discovery, and delivery coordination across the portfolio. This role bridges practice group stakeholders and engineering teams by running structured intake, maintaining project tracking in Azure DevOps, and keeping workstreams moving without Director involvement at every step. The Technical Project Manager understands enough of the technical domain to scope work accurately, identify risk, and hold engineering teams accountable to commitments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own the intake process for all incoming requests from practice group leaders and business stakeholders
  • Run structured discovery sessions to define scope, requirements, success criteria, and constraints before work enters the engineering backlog
  • Translate business needs into well-formed user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria in Azure DevOps
  • Maintain and groom the EA project backlog in collaboration with engineers and the Director
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives across active workstreams
  • Track delivery progress, surface blockers early, and coordinate resolution across internal teams and vendors
  • Own stakeholder communication for projects in flight, including status updates, risk escalation, and milestone reporting
  • Produce and maintain project documentation including charters, decision logs, and dependency maps
  • Coordinate resource allocation across parallel workstreams in collaboration with the Director and Engineering Manager
  • Manage vendor and partner engagement on project-level activities including timelines, deliverables, and acceptance criteria
  • Identify and mitigate delivery risk throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure all project work is tracked in Azure DevOps and visible to stakeholders
  • Support change management activities including communications, training coordination, and cutover planning
  • Partner with QA to ensure test coverage is planned and executed before production deployment
  • Facilitate post-delivery retrospectives and document lessons learned
  • Provide the Director with a clear, current view of portfolio status, risk, and capacity

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience managing technical projects in an Agile or hybrid Agile environment, including ownership of sprint ceremonies and backlog management
  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps for project tracking, backlog management, and sprint planning
  • Strong ability to run structured discovery and translate business requirements into actionable engineering work items
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships across business and technical audiences, including executive-level communication
  • Comfortable working in a technical environment with enough domain fluency to scope work, challenge estimates, and identify risk without being a developer
  • Proven ability to coordinate parallel workstreams across a small, high-output team without creating overhead
  • Experience with delivery risk identification, escalation, and mitigation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear status updates, decision logs, and project documentation
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 including Teams and SharePoint as collaboration surfaces
  • Law firm experience preferred
