Position SummaryThe Technical Project Manager (TPM) is a
remote position responsible for managing and ensuring the timely completion of technical and operational projects supporting the Line-Item Projects Project Controls program. This role provides project controls expertise across cost analysis, planning, scheduling, and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), while overseeing projects from initiation through completion. The position is primarily remote but may require occasional travel for DOE meetings and events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Manage technical and operational projects, including project requirements, deliverables, budgets, schedules, and execution.
- Support project scheduling using Primavera P6, including data quality checks, integration activities, and schedule analysis.
- Support project cost management using Cobra and EVMS processes, including cost analysis, control, forecasting, and identification of cost trends.
- Develop and maintain project controls processes and work products to meet programmatic and customer requirements.
- Provide technical cost and schedule guidance and develop innovative solutions for complex or non-routine project requirements.
- Collaborate with technical, business, and project stakeholders to ensure work is completed according to established objectives and schedules.
- Promptly report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or incidents to management.
- Participate in required training sessions and safety briefings.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet operational needs.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with project controls, including cost analysis/control, planning, scheduling, and EVMS.
- Experience using Primavera P6 for project scheduling and schedule analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and take projects or concepts from initial ideas through completed deliverables.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with Cobra for project cost management.
- Experience in project controls within aDOE/NNSA environment.
- Knowledge of LANL Project Controls procedures, policies, and processes
- Experience working with both technical and business stakeholders in complex projector program environments.
