Technical Operations Manager

AEGIS is seeking a customer-focused, mission-driven Technical Operations Manager to join our team of highly skilled professionals supporting NASA operations. In this role, you will lead technical operations supporting NASA communications, mission systems, and critical infrastructure. You will oversee operational readiness, workforce performance, customer engagement, training, system reliability, and safety compliance while ensuring mission success and contract performance. The position requires close collaboration with engineering, operations, and NASA stakeholders in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

This position requires a results-oriented individual with exceptional communication, analytical, and presentation skills to help deliver both program-level and customer-facing safety metrics, reporting, and analysis.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
  • Demonstrate operational agility by quickly responding to active operational requirements and providing efficient and effective executable work plans.
  • Conduct regular meetings and conversations with customers regarding required work status, new project work, and real-time system situations, as necessary to support AEGIS contract requirements and provide technical advice/guidance as requested.
  • Create, oversee, and manage system- and operations-specific training for technical team members. Provide remedial/additional training opportunities as required.
  • Serve in additional management duty roles to fulfill contractual operations and maintenance requirements in support of AEGIS and NASA teams.
  • Managing technical operations personnel supporting NASA communications and mission systems.
  • Leading troubleshooting and restoration of network and communications systems.
  • Managing operational readiness of critical infrastructure.
  • Overseeing technical performance, staffing, and workforce development.
  • Coordinating engineering changes and system upgrades.
  • Supporting strategic planning for communications and network operations.
  • Managing operational metrics, SLAs, and performance reporting.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, OR a related technical field and 8+ years of relevant experience OR Masters degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Able to obtain/maintain Public Trust security clearance.
  • Practical experience in technical operations environment with focus on network and communications systems.
  • U.S. Citizenship and successfully pass a Federal background check (required for access to NASA facilities and systems).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications, including Excel, Word, Power Point and Project.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver concise findings, reports, and briefings to customers and leadership.
  • Ability to successfully work collaboratively with engineering, operations, and mission support teams in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven experience in managing diverse operational and technical roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, including assigning work, mentoring personnel, managing performance, and coordinating operational activities.


Please Note: The program budget salary for this role could fall anywhere between $110,000 to $125,000 with a slight wiggle room (no guarantees) based on relevant experience and assessment.
