What you'll do:- Provide technical leadership and serve as the subject matter expert for all gas chromatography instrumentation, analytical methods, and laboratory operations
- Calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize GC and GC-MS instrumentation to ensure reliable operation and minimal downtime
- Develop, validate, implement, and maintain analytical methods in accordance with ASTM, ISO, EPA, and customer requirements
- Train, qualify, and mentor laboratory personnel on GC instrumentation, analytical methods, troubleshooting, and laboratory best practices
- Lead and maintain compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 quality system requirements, including audit preparation, technical documentation, and continuous improvement activities
- Review, develop, and maintain laboratory SOPs, test methods, work instructions, and technical documentation to ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance.
- Perform routine technical assessments of analytical methods, monitor instrument performance, and implement corrective actions to improve data quality and laboratory efficiency.
- Manage instrument maintenance schedules, service records, consumable inventory, calibration standards, and vendor relationships for laboratory instrumentation.
- Provide technical support to laboratory staff, customers, and management regarding analytical capabilities, method limitations, troubleshooting, and new testing opportunities.
- Evaluate and recommend new instrumentation, software, and analytical technologies to expand laboratory capabilities and support business growth.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline
- 5 years experience with Gas Chromatography
- Advanced knowledge of gas chromatography (GC) and GC-MS instrumentation, including operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:- Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field is preferred
- Experience maintaining compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 quality management systems, including participation in internal and external accreditation audits
- Proven experience training and mentoring laboratory personnel and providing technical support for analytical testing and instrumentation
