  • Assist in reviewing and reporting test results, both complex and routine
  • Contribute ideas for technical improvements and participate in special projects

Full Job Description
LabCorp is seeking a Technical Consultant to join our team Houston, TX.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assisting in overseeing the technical component of the laboratory to ensure that patient results are reported reliably, including reviewing AMR studies and instrument comparisons
  • Working with the Technical Director and Technical Supervisors to ensure accuracy for all testing in the lab, including instrument performance and identifying root causes when issues arise
  • Provide additional technical support to Technical Director and Technical Supervisors as needed (e.g. validations, verification)
  • Accurately responds to client inquires that are technical in nature and escalate, as needed
  • Effectively communicates with clients, physicians, nurses, and LabCorp staff and provides technical expertise, as needed
  • Projects credibility and builds rapport with medical doctors/LabCorp clients, providing quick/accurate responses to inquires
  • Assists in the review, interpretation, and reporting of complex and routine test results
  • Shares experiences and ideas on technical improvements
  • Adheres to laboratory policies and procedures
  • Assist with other special projects, as needed


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • 5 years or more of clinical laboratory experience in a CLIA, CAP laboratory environment

Preferred Qualification:
  • Current or prior Labcorp experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards
  • Have demonstrated hands-on experience with laboratory procedures
  • Familiarity with LCLS, LCWS, SIS, eAssist, and other Labcorp IT systems
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office and EP Evaluator
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Department Name along with strong knowledge of scientific concepts and effective clinical practices/procedures
  • Excellent technical and problem solving skills
  • Discretion in handling confidential information
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • The position requires the candidate to be extremely organized. Working to tight deadlines, flexibility in approach, exceptional communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
