Responsibilities
The Global E-Commerce engineering organization is building one of the world's fastest-growing commerce platforms, creating seamless and trusted shopping experiences for millions of users worldwide. Our mission is to develop highly scalable, reliable, and intelligent commerce systems that power every stage of the buyer journey on our platform. We're looking for an experienced Technical Lead Manager to lead a backend engineering team responsible for building critical commerce capabilities that support customer trust, transaction reliability, and post-purchase experiences. This leader will help define the technical vision, drive execution across cross-functional teams, and build highly available distributed systems that operate at global scale. Responsibilities: - Lead and grow a team of 8-10 backend engineers, providing both technical leadership and people management. - Own the architecture and delivery of large-scale backend services supporting critical customer-facing shopping experiences. - Design and build highly available distributed systems that power high-volume online transactions and post-purchase customer journeys. - Drive technical direction for systems that prioritize reliability, performance, scalability, and customer trust. - Lead cross-functional technical initiatives, influence architecture across teams, and align engineering execution with product priorities. - Establish engineering best practices around system design, operational excellence, observability, reliability, testing, and incident response. - Mentor senior engineers and technical leads while fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement. - Balance long-term platform investments with evolving customer needs and business priorities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or a related technical field. - 8+ years of experience developing large-scale backend systems using Java, Golang, C++, Python, or similar languages, with 2+ years of people management experience. - Experience developing customer-facing commerce experiences such as checkout, order management, payments, returns, refunds, customer accounts, notifications, or post-purchase services. - Experience leading engineering teams or serving as a Technical Lead Manager responsible for both technical direction and people leadership. - Strong experience designing distributed systems with high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance. - Experience driving complex cross-functional initiatives from architecture through production delivery. - Strong software engineering fundamentals, including system design, data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience building large-scale consumer-facing e-commerce platforms or high-volume online transaction systems. - Strong understanding of designing systems that improve customer trust, transaction success, and overall shopping experience. - Experience leading backend teams responsible for mission-critical online services with high availability and low latency. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions across global engineering teams. - Passion for building products that directly impact millions of end users.

[For Pay Transparency]Compensation Description (Annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $254400 - $480000 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
