SUMMARY

Driving operational, cultural and behavioral transformation to a Zero Defects mindset to achieve and maintain consistently high levels of product performance. Developing enhanced alloys and efficient manufacturing technologies, having the potential to significantly influence the appeal of PCC Metals & Forgings premium products in the eyes of customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Providing Technical leadership and direction to the PCC Metals & Forgings plants, keeping the Technical/Engineering teams aligned to achieve strong technical performance and a positive external image for the segment.

Driving existing production processes and exploiting new manufacturing technologies to achieve targeted improvements in yield, scrap, rework, concessions and first pass yield performance.

Leading, mentoring and developing a high-performing Technical/Engineering team, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.

Managing customer communications on Technical / non-commercial topics and interfacing with key customers during site visits.

Leading teams in problem solving issues that affect vertically integrated businesses.

Aligned to the Sales strategy, leading the group in executing the New Product Introduction Process to identify business opportunities and associated technical challenges, resource requirements, capital expenditure. Utilizing the APQP toolbox to ensure product capability and successful outcomes.

Providing advanced metallurgical/engineering technical support to plant and mill development projects.

In collaboration with the Quality function, deploying the AS13100 Zero Defects toolkit, with a specific focus on Process Monitoring, Problem Solving, Measurement Systems and Quality Planning.

Developing and executing the Technology roadmap for the site to align with the overall business strategy and maintain PCC Metals and Forgings' competitive position with respect to process capability, including driving the deployment of Industry 4.0 capabilities through digital transformation.

Representing the site as necessary on all technology matters and advising the site leadership as appropriate.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The candidate will have an aerospace or automotive background, with a Zero Defects mindset, knowing what good looks like operationally, culturally and behaviorally. They will operate through a leader's visionary lens, with the ability to communicate and demonstrate what the future state will be in terms of Technology and Customer expectation.
• An accomplished and experienced Metallurgist, comfortable operating both strategically and tactically and fully versed in the Zero Defects toolbox, processes and methodologies.
• Not content with the status-quo - disruptive by nature, having the drive and desire to transform a culture and demonstrate how they have achieved this previously.
• Strong executive presence and excellent communication skills, essential for effectively presenting complex data and improvement strategies to senior executives and customers. This includes the ability to clearly articulate findings, propose actionable solutions, and foster confidence in the organization's technical capabilities.
• Instilling and implementing a Zero Defects philosophy and mindset, in partnership with the Quality, Operations and Manufacturing Engineering functions.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Degree qualified in Materials Science or Metallurgy.
• Doctorate in Materials Science or Metallurgy preferred.
• Six Sigma Greenbelt required / Blackbelt preferred.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a technical/engineering role.
• At least 5 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role, demonstrating the ability to lead technical teams and drive organizational change.
• Candidates should have a proven track record of successful New Product Development and Introduction projects. • Proven experience in a high-volume production environment.
• Automotive or aerospace engineering/manufacturing background.
