About the job:

As a Technical Development Manager - New Markets, you will play a key role in identifying and developing new application opportunities that drive sustainable growth across our global Paints & Coatings business. Working at the intersection of technology, innovation, and commercial strategy, you will partner closely with Strategic Marketing, R&D, Sales, and regional teams to define technical roadmaps, bring new products to market, and expand our portfolio into new applications. This is a highly collaborative, customer-facing role where you'll combine your technical expertise with market insights to develop innovative solutions, influence product strategy, and help shape the future of our technologies on a global scale.

In your future role as a Technical Development Manager, you will:

  • Drive the technical development strategy for new market applications, identifying and evaluating opportunities that support long-term business growth.
  • Partner closely with Strategic Marketing to define the technical roadmap and innovation strategy for assigned product lines.
  • Lead the global launch and adoption of new products, ensuring successful commercialization across regions.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, key technical stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to identify market needs and accelerate growth initiatives.
  • Develop new business opportunities for microspheres and colloidal silica technologies across targeted applications, including concrete, automotive putties, metal coatings, and sol-gel coatings.
  • Monitor global market, technology, and competitive trends to identify emerging opportunities and recommend strategic actions.
  • Drive alignment across regions by harmonizing technical processes, documentation, and best practices.
  • Develop technical training programs and resources that enable commercial and technical teams to effectively support customers.
  • Partner with regional teams to prioritize technical development activities and allocate resources to support strategic growth objectives.
  • Collaborate across Marketing, Sales, R&D, and regional business teams to translate customer needs into innovative technical solutions and successful product offerings.


We believe you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field. An advanced degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in technical development, R&D, technical service, product management, marketing, or business development within the chemical industry.
  • Experience in paints and coatings, construction materials, or other industrial markets is preferred.
  • A track record of developing new applications, driving product commercialization, and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Strong project management, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate across global, cross-functional teams.
  • Solid business acumen with the ability to balance technical and commercial priorities.
  • Fluency in English and willingness to travel globally up to 40% as business needs require
