Responsibilities

  • Assist the Area Process Manager in operational leadership and technical expertise

  • Engage in reliability investigations and complete RCFA action items
  • Support 5S organizational efforts within the area team
  • Work with the Mill ME Group on cost reduction projects
  • Participate in capital project development and execution
  • Facilitate operator training and certification
  • Assist with daily operations of the Utilities Department

$89,000- $118,600

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

The Job You Will Perform:

The Technical Assistant is responsible for assisting the Area Process Manager with the leadership, coordination, and technical expertise to support and optimize the day-to-day operations of the Evaporators, Recovery and Tall Oil Plant areas. This position reports to the Recovery Area Process Manager.
  1. Support Area Safety and Environmental Results
  2. Assist in process problem solving and process optimization to improve quality and variability
  3. Support Mill's Process Control Team to assure DCS controls and IEPM loops are maintained and optimized
  4. Support the Area Team and Reliability Group in Reliability Investigations and Timely Completion of RCFA Action Items
  5. Support the Area Team in Basic Care activities and improvements
  6. Support Area Team 5S Efforts
  7. Support the Mill ME Group to identify and implement Cost Reduction Projects
  8. Participate in the development and execution of capital projects
  9. Assist Area Manager and Area Learning Leader in Operator Training and Certification
  10. Support the Utilities Department in day-to-day operations


The Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge You Will Bring:
  • Technical education consisting of a B.S. or higher in chemical or mechanical engineering, pulp and paper technology or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in pulp and paper
  • Demonstrated Leadership Skills
  • Operations experience in Recovery and Tall Oil Processing
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation and listening skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong technical knowledge related to the manufacturing process
