Full Job Description
Technical Accounting Senior Manager in Raleigh, NC to join us in fulfilling our mission, while utilizing our values of excellence, improvement, and connection. In this role, you will report to the Director of Financial Reporting within the Controllership team and provide technical accounting leadership across U.S. GAAP, statutory accounting principles (SAP) and other applicable global accounting and regulatory regimes. This role will support complex accounting analyses, financial reporting conclusions, and related documentation, with a particular focus on the Company's credit-related insurance and reinsurance business. The role will evaluate new transactions, provide guidance to business leaders on potential accounting issues and how best to address them, strengthen reporting processes, support audit and regulatory deliverables, partner closely across functions, and assist with system implementation or enhancement initiatives impacting accounting and reporting.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead technical accounting research and documentation for complex transactions under U.S. GAAP, SAP and other international accounting principles, including preparation of accounting memos and position papers.
  • Evaluate the accounting and reporting implications of assumed credit-related reinsurance and insurance transactions, including profit commissions, ceding commissions, collateral provisions, foreign exchange matters and other transaction-specific terms.
  • Assist with statutory and U.S. GAAP financial reporting deliverables, including disclosures, supplemental schedules, regulatory filings, and responses to auditor or regulator inquiries.
  • Maintain and enhance technical accounting policies, process documentation, and internal controls related to complex transactions and financial reporting conclusions.
  • Monitor emerging accounting and regulatory guidance affecting insurance, reinsurance, and financial reporting matters, and assess the impact on company policies, disclosures, and processes.
  • Serve as a key accounting subject matter expert on system implementation or enhancement projects supporting the credit insurance and reinsurance business, including requirements gathering, testing, control design, data validation, and accounting/reporting readiness.
  • Identify and drive process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and strengthen accounting and reporting controls.


YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA Certification.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including technical accounting analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience interpreting and applying accounting guidance to complex transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to research technical accounting matters, document conclusions clearly, and communicate accounting positions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within the accounting team and across departments and levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document accounting matters and explain technical accounting concepts in a clear, practical manner.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and other accounting and financial reporting tools.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Financial services or insurance experience, including statutory accounting.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Oracle or similar ERP experience.
