  • Assist with audit requests concerning revenue accounting and reporting.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses as needed.

Job Summary:

The Technical Revenue Accountant will be responsible for supporting BDO Government Services accounting and financial reporting requirements by analyzing complex transactions, applying appropriate accounting guidance, and documenting conclusions related to revenue recognition in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

Job Duties:
  • Ensures proper application of revenue recognition policies and supports development of related best practices
  • Interprets and applies U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606, to new contract setup and arrangements in ERP
  • Reviews contracts and accounting scenarios to determine appropriate revenue treatment and timing of recognition
  • Partners with Principals and Project Managers on project status and milestone updates
  • Supports monthly and quarterly close activities related to revenue, including journal entries and reconciliations
  • Supports audit requests related to revenue accounting and financial reporting
  • Prepares ad hoc reports, analysis, and special projects, as needed
  • Other duties, as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree, required; with a focus in Accounting or Finance, preferred

Experience
  • Five (5) or more years of general accounting experience, required
  • Experience with technical accounting and/or revenue recognition, required
  • Prior experience working within a professional services firm or other complex service-based environment, preferred

License/Certifications:
  • CPA, preferred

Software
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, required
  • Prior experience using Unanet and/or NetSuiteERP, preferred

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $80,000 - $110,000
Maryland Range: $80,000 - $110,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $80,000 - $110,000
