We are currently soliciting letters of interest for a Groundwater Team Lead position within our Environmental Services Business Centre. The Groundwater Team leads and manages water resources projects involving hydrogeological and water quality components. The position can be based in any of our Atlantic Canada offices.

Reporting to the Operations Lead, the Team Lead will be an integral part of the Business Center's leadership team in using your skills to mentor and grow a highly capable and motivated team, while we provide technical results that go above and beyond client's expectations.

Your Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

In addition to your regular professional scope of work in the field of hydrogeology, your added responsibilities will include:
  • Manage the resourcing and development of a team of engineers, hydrogeologists, environmental scientists and technical staff within the Groundwater group
  • Collaborate with other team leaders and discipline leads to achieve effective resource planning and operational alignment
  • Supervise junior staff and help with career development
  • Chair regular team meetings & share information
  • Lead in the creation of Stantec's safety culture within your team
  • Support the team to meet their respective utilization targets
  • Encourage a culture of innovation in the team
  • Inspire collaboration and cross-training
  • Attract, grow, and retain high-quality staff
  • Coach team members
  • Perform Year-End Performance Reviews for team members
  • Participate in and/or manage hydrogeological project work
  • Project Delivery & Technical Excellence
  • Oversee projects with varying degree of complexity, performing technical design tasks and providing guidance to team members.
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews on own and peer projects.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Leadership experience and commitment to Stantec values including inclusion and diversity
  • Experience in or a solid understanding of the consulting industry in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills that include balancing immediate and long-term work commitments with varying priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience with hydrogeological field work, characterization, data analysis, and reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong business development, client management, communication, and financial management skills are essential.
  • Ability and willingness to travel when needed

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in civil, hydrotechnical, geoscience, or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the industry.

Work Environment

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. As a People Leader, you will be expected to work from the office a minimum of three (3) days per week.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
