You are a strategic and collaborative financial leader who thrives on translating complex financial information into clear, actionable insights. You bring expert knowledge of financial management, costing and cost recovery frameworks, and you are skilled at coaching a team while managing competing priorities. You are comfortable providing advice to senior leaders, challenging assumptions constructively, and driving improvements to financial processes and controls.

What you'll do

Reporting to the Director, the Team Leader leads a unit that delivers specialized financial or resource management services, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, internal monitoring, reporting, costing, financial analysis, internal controls, cost recovery and revenue management activities. The incumbent leads the delivery and improvement of financial or resource management services within assigned program areas, ensures the accuracy and reliability of financial information and compliance with financial legislation, policies and directives, and provides expert financial advice and guidance to fund centre managers and senior leaders. The Team Leader provides supervision and day-to-day leadership to the unit and leads or participates in cross-functional, multi-disciplinary financial projects and initiatives.

Essential Qualifications:

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in finance, commerce, accounting, business administration or economics, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Language Requirements:

Experience:
• Experience in financial management, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and reporting
• Experience providing financial or resource management advice and guidance to senior management
• Experience leading or supervising a team

Knowledge of:
• Knowledge of financial management legislation, policies and directives, including the CNSC cost recovery fees regulations, the Financial Administration Act, cost recovery principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Knowledge of financial planning, budgeting and forecasting
• Knowledge of advanced financial analysis and modelling
• Knowledge of financial systems and data structures
• Knowledge of project management, performance measurement and organizational context

Ability:
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft Excel for financial modelling, costing and reporting

Asset Qualification:

Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, or equivalent.

Operational Needs:

All CNSC staff are subject to the Mobility Directive.

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Overtime: Overtime may be required.
