Canadian Surgery Solutions Ltd., a division of Clearpoint Health Network is recruiting for a permanent Team Lead, RN PACU and DAY STAY UNIT POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Nurse Manager, the Team Leader is responsible for providing clinical and operational leadership for the PACU and Day Stay units. This role plays a key part in ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, high-quality patient-centred care throughout the pre-operative, per-anesthesia and post operative patient journey. The successful candidate will provide clinical expertise, coordinate daily operations, support patient flow, mentor and develop staff, and promote a collaborative team environment. The Team Leader is accountable for fostering excellence in patient outcomes, supporting quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with professional standards, organizational policies, and accreditation requirements. Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership 3 Provide day-to-day leadership and coordination of PACU and Day Stay operations. 3 Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff. 3 Support staff development through coaching, education, and performance feedback. 3 Assist with orientation and onboarding of new team members. 3 Foster a positive, collaborative, and patient-centred work environment. 3 Support staffing assignments and workload distribution to ensure safe patient care. Patient Care Excellence 3 Deliver direct patient care as required within scope of practice. 3 Perform comprehensive patient assessments and interventions. 3 Monitor patient progress through all phases of pre-operative, peri-anesthesia and post- operative recovery. 3 Ensure patient safety and adherence to evidence-based clinical practices. 3 Act as a patient advocate and support patient and family education. 3 Respond effectively to changes in patient condition and emergency situations. Operations Management 3 Coordinate daily patient flow and unit activities. 3 Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, MDR, OR, Pre-Op, and PACU and Extended Stay teams to ensure efficient operations. 3 Support scheduling and resource allocation to meet operational needs. 3 Assist in identifying equipment requirements and supply needs. Quality, Safety and Accreditation 3 Promote compliance with Infection Prevention and Control standards. 3 Ensure adherence to medication management and controlled substance regulations. 3 Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and accreditation activities. 3 Assist with incident investigations, risk management reviews, and corrective action planning. 3 Monitor compliance with organizational policies, professional standards, and clinical practice guidelines. 3 Support a culture of continuous improvement and patient safety. Emergency Response 3 Assume a leadership role during emergency situations and code responses 3 Support emergency preparedness initiatives and staff education 3 Participate in root cause analysis and development of corrective action plans when required 3 Promote a culture of safety and continuous learning Communication and Collaboration 3 Serve as a key liaison between nursing staff, physicians, leadership, and support departments. 3 Facilitate effective communication among interdisciplinary team members. 3 Assist in conflict resolution and promote respectful workplace practices. 3 Participate in committees, projects, and organizational initiatives as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements 3 Bachelor of Nursing (BN) degree preferred. 3 Active registration and good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). 3 Minimum five (5) years of recent experience in PACU, Critical Care, Emergency, or Acute Care Nursing. 3 Previous leadership, Charge Nurse, Team Lead, or supervisory experience preferred. 3 Current BLS and ACLS certification required 3 Peri-Anesthesia or Critical Care certification considered an asset. 3 Strong knowledge of peri-anesthesia nursing standards and best practices. 3 Demonstrated competency in IV therapy initiation and management 3 Excellent leadership, coaching, communication, and conflict-resolution abilities. 3 Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. 3 Strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and decision-making skills. 3 Proficient computer and electronic medical record skills For accommodation requests during the hiring process, please contact [redacted] for further information.
