Responsibilities

This Team Lead Reinsurance Systems is responsible for leading a team to provide ongoing support and enhancements on the overall platform and/or related application environment, with a focus on transferring technical knowledge into the workgroup and developing associates’ technical skills.

 

• Provides direct supervision of team including goals, budget and personal development.• Assists team with resolving problems and project implementations, including development tasks.• Directs tasks to team members to achieve agreed upon objectives.• Focuses 70% of effort within the directly managed team and provides day-to-day communication required with peer associates and teams.• Provides guidance to direct reports to develop technical and leadership skills, with a focus on developing a self-directing team and future leaders.• Spends more than 80% of time focused on a 3 to 12-month planning period and single project durations.• Provides training to lower level associates in the technology practice.• Receives overall direction from manager and director level roles regarding short-term operational and tactical planning.• Closely monitors allocations and costs for internal and external resources.• Generates new ideas and consults with manager to improve area of responsibility.• Collaborates with team members on technical direction of the application and provides recommendations to Management.• Serves as a primary interaction point with project managers, company functional or technical leads and local team members.• Travels approximately 10 to 30%.

Qualifications and Experience

 

• 1 to 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area; leadership development is the candidate’s focus.• Demonstrated capability of meeting the key accountabilities, or the ability to learn and perform them.• Ability to lead personnel, technical, stakeholder, and project initiatives for an application development team.• Ability to thrive and produce team results with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.• Senior level technology acumen.• Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience.• Strong project management experience.• Strong customer service focus that serves as the basis for making decisions.• Superior problem-solving and analytical skills.• Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to interact seamlessly with both technical and business stakeholders at all levels of the corporation.• 3+ years of P&C insurance industry knowledge is preferred, but not required.• Understanding of Agile SDLC is preferred.
