Team Lead, Budget & Forecast Competition #: NLH-RE-26-101

Key Responsibilities: As a key member of the Finance team, you will be responsible for planning, managing and executing all aspects of budgeting and forecasting cycle for Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, including consolidation of budgets and forecasts. Critical aspects of the role include leadership and oversight of the Budget and Forecasting team, establishing and executing the timelines and processes for the budget and forecasting cycles, and detailed and in-depth, meaningful variance analysis to provide information to the leadership team. Oversight of the completion of financial statement projections including cash flows for presentation to various stakeholders is key. The budgeting and forecasting cycle for Hydro is a critical process, the output of which forms part of the evidence used in General Rate Applications.
You will be responsible for overseeing the completion of various reports including operating budgets and the consolidated budget, consisting of both key financial and non-financial performance metrics, various regulatory reports and third party information reviews. Experience in consolidating budgets and forecasts for a complex organization is required. Preparation of presentations and the ability to synthesize information is a key success factor.
The Team Lead position requires proven supervisory experience, strong analytical and managerial skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills complemented by the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate must possess a strong technical accounting background, including knowledge of IFRS, to assess the accounting implications of business activities and ensure budgets, forecasts, and financial projections are prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards. The candidate is expected to exercise a significant level of initiative in planning, organizing and controlling work activity, managing processes autonomously, and managing the forecasting and budgeting team.
As the successful candidate, you will take a lead role in continuous improvement to evolve the budget and forecast processes to better achieve Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro's corporate goals and objectives. The candidate will require a significant amount of resourcefulness to identify and resolve issues and provide recommendations for a path forward in a timely manner. An excellent knowledge of Excel and experience with performance management software are key success factors in this role.

What You'll Need: - A University Degree in Commerce or Business Administration and a recognized accounting designation (CA,CGA, CMA) or equivalent experience;
- At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in financial analysis and/or accounting, including supervisory experience;
- Progressively responsible roles in budgeting and forecasting;
- Appropriate working knowledge of GAAP / IFRS;
- Proven supervisory experience;
- Consolidation experience of a large diverse organization is required;
- Strong excel skills;
- Experience working with large enterprise systems such as JD Edwards and budgeting software would be beneficial.
