Job Summary:
The Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences (ADS) is seeking a motivated, well-rounded, and enthusiastic individual to join our department to contribute to our hands-on learning opportunities that serve our rapidly growing undergraduate population. This position will provide instruction for multiple courses that support the curriculum for the department's two majors: Animal and Veterinary Biosciences and Dairy and Food Animal Management.

This position will also have a prominent role in our ADS youth programming and undergraduate recruitment efforts. Badger Dairy Camp (BDC) is a summer youth program for middle and high school students, and the successful applicant will lead the planning and execution of this camp on an annual basis. In addition to BDC and other youth programming, the ADS department prioritizes undergraduate recruitment and collaborates with the UW-Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences on undergraduate recruitment activities on an ongoing basis.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Develops teaching techniques that enhance course effectiveness in alignment with desired outcomes and established strategy

• Assists in defining the objectives of the program and plays a major role in carrying out program duties

• Assists in developing techniques and/or model programs for carrying out instructional goals in disciplinary area and may help identify ways in which new techniques could be of assistance

• Assesses learner performance and prepares reports recommending instructional improvements

• Provides classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including grading

• Supervises the day to day activities of work unit employees involved in instructional support as needed

Compensation:
The starting salary for this position is $85,000 but is negotiable based on experience, qualifications, and internal parity considerations. Required Qualifications:

• Demonstrated ability to teach applied courses in animal science (including careers), animal ethics, dairy herd management, animal management, or other related areas.

• Experience designing syllabi, lab activities, and experiential learning modules.
• Demonstrated communication, planning, and coordination skills through experiences involving instruction, educational programs, outreach activities, project management, event coordination, or other relevant initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with curriculum development in agricultural sciences.
• Experience with youth programming, mentoring, and/or recruitment of undergraduate students.

Education:

• Master's degree - Required

In Animal Sciences, Dairy Sciences, Meat Sciences or related field

• PhD Degree- Preferred
