DescriptionThe Department of Radiology in the School of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle is seeking applications for one full-time Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) at the rank of Teaching Associate to join the growing Molecular Imaging and Nuclear Medicine service at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center with an anticipated start date of February 1, 2027. Teaching associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
The University of Washington/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center Molecular Imaging and Therapy service is based at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, South Lake Union Campus. This rapidly growing service provides nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapy services and offers clinical trial opportunities for Fred Hutch patients in an outpatient setting. The clinical PET/CT and general nuclear medicine imaging services have experienced steady growth for the past 5 years. Under the leadership of the Director of Molecular Imaging at SCCA, Dr. Delphine Chen, the clinical therapy practice has dramatically with increased volumes in Lu-177 dotatate, I-131 therapy for thyroid cancer and recent opening of the Lu-177 PSMA-targeted therapy service. Consultation services for both patients and providers have also expanded significantly, leading to highly collaborative, multidisciplinary participation of nuclear medicine in the oncology practice at SCCA. Multiple diagnostic and therapy radiopharmaceutical clinical trials are also run or supported by the Fred Hutch nuclear medicine service. Finally, the addition of a PET/MR and planned additional PET/CT and SPECT/CT cameras will further increase clinical volumes and provide ample opportunities for clinical and translational research. As a result of this rapid growth, UW/Fred Hutch seeks to add an APP to support this growing service.
Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Perform initial consultations as shared visits with nuclear medicine faculty and independent on-treatment visits for therapy patients at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.
- Provide patient education on radiopharmaceutical therapies.
- Evaluate and manage on-treatment and post-treatment side effects from radiopharmaceutical therapies with a focus on managing acute side effects.
- Perform care coordination tasks in collaboration with the Nuclear Medicine Therapy Coordinator, staff, and Oncology teams.
- Assist with medical decision making for diagnostic nuclear medicine patients, including handling reactions and assessing adequacy of patient preparation for nuclear medicine and PET scans.
- Draft preliminary PET and other nuclear medicine imaging study reports under radiologist supervision (will receive training for this, anticipated to take at least several years).
- Participate in patient review conferences, tumor boards, and other clinical team meetings.
- Participate in and support molecular imaging research involving investigational diagnostic and therapy radiopharmaceuticals.
- Share call responsibilities with the attending faculty for Fred Hutch therapy patients.
The base salary range for this position will be: $10,000 - $16,518 per month ($120,000 - $198,216 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. This position is incentive eligible through the physicians practice plan.

Qualifications- 1 year of ARNP or PA-C experience in Medical Oncology preferred
- Strong team player with a can-do attitude is a must! Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team is essential.
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program required.
- Washington state & DEA licensure required.
- ACLS required
- Strong oral and written communication skills required.
- EMR experience required; prefer experience with CPOE
