Full Job Description
Tax & Treasury Specialist

Level: P4 |
Location: Remote | Canada
Reports To: Jason Hunt | Director, Accounting
Type: Permanent | Full-Time

About the Role

Solink is looking for a Tax & Treasury Specialist to join our Finance organization. This role starts from a foundation in tax compliance and planning, with the opportunity to grow into treasury responsibilities, including short-term cash forecasting and cash flow management. We're less focused on someone who already has deep treasury experience, and more focused on finding someone with solid core tax fundamentals who is curious, adaptable, and excited to expand into treasury over time.

You'll work closely with the Director of Accounting and cross-functionally with the Accounting, FP&A and Finance Operations teams, as well as our external advisors. Our company reports under IFRS and operates globally, so this role touches multi-jurisdictional tax considerations where you will need to proactively identify tax risks, interpret evolving legislation, and build repeatable processes that minimize risk while supporting business growth.

What You'll Do
Tax Compliance & Planning
  • Prepare and/or support federal, state/provincial, and local tax filings across all legal entities, coordinating with external tax advisors as needed.
  • Support sales/use tax, GST/HST, and VAT compliance across jurisdictions, including monitoring nexus as the business scales - hardware shipments introduce physical nexus considerations beyond typical SaaS.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision calculations under IFRS, working with the accounting team and external advisors.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate tax law research, first-draft technical memos, and summarize regulatory updates.Research and document tax positions on new products, contract structures, and cross-border transactions between entities.
  • Support tax planning opportunities as they arise (e.g., R&D tax credits, intercompany transfer pricing considerations, jurisdictional structuring).
  • Maintain the tax compliance calendar across all jurisdictions to ensure timely, accurate filings.
  • Help respond to tax notices and support tax audits.
  • Monitor changes in tax law across jurisdictions relevant to the business.
Business Partnership
  • Act as a first point of contact for Sales, Procurement, and Operations on routine tax questions.
  • Review customer and vendor contracts to ensure appropriate tax treatment.
  • Support new market expansion by evaluating tax registration and compliance requirements.
  • Translate complex tax regulations into practical guidance for business stakeholders.
Treasury & Cash Management
  • Learn and eventually own the short-term (13-week) cash flow forecast, incorporating inputs from AR, AP, payroll, and capital expenditures.
  • Support monitoring of daily cash positions across bank accounts and currencies.
  • Gain exposure to banking relationships, account structures, and treasury tools/platforms.
  • Assist with intercompany funding tracking and foreign currency exposure considerations.
  • Support annual treasury planning and working capital analysis as skills develop.
  • Explore opportunities to use AI tools to speed up variance analysis on the cash forecast (e.g., flagging unusual AR/AP timing) and to automate recurring reconciliation or reporting tasks.

What You Bring
Must-Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA/CA in progress or completed.
  • 2-4 years of tax compliance experience; multi-jurisdictional exposure a plus but not required.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and picking up new processes; adaptable and curious by nature.
  • Comfortable using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to support research, drafting, and analysis - no specific AI experience required, but genuine interest in using these tools to work more efficiently is a plus.
  • Strong Excel skills; exposure to tax software (e.g., Avalara) or ERP systems is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally with Accounting, FP&A, and Operations.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, able to manage multiple deadlines.
