Job Description Summary
Are you an expert in payroll tax for US and Canada? The Payroll Tax Specialist is accountable for payroll tax reporting, remittance, and compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions, supporting high-volume and complex payroll operations in the United States and Canada; and is integral to ensuring adherence to evolving regulatory requirements. The role partners cross-functionally with Payroll, Finance, Human Resources, and external vendors (Strada, ADP, etc.) and agencies to navigate regulatory requirements and audits, reduce compliance risk, and support efficient payroll operations.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage accurate and timely payroll tax filing, reporting, and remittance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Manage Strada and ADP vendor performance, enforcing accountability and providing leadership on high-priority payroll tax research and issue resolution.
    Help ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and provincial payroll tax requirements in a complex, high-volume environment.
  • Research and resolve payroll tax notices, discrepancies, amendments, and agency inquiries with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Review and maintain payroll tax setup in systems such as Workday and ADP Smart Compliance to support accurate withholding and reporting and system configuration.
  • Support quarterly and year-end payroll tax activities, including reconciliations and required tax filings.
  • Monitor payroll tax law and regulatory changes and help implement updates to processes and systems as needed.
  • Partner closely with Payroll, HR, Finance, vendors, and tax agencies to resolve issues and support smooth payroll tax operations.
    Assist with audits by preparing reconciliations, documentation, and payroll tax analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and enhance employee experience.
  • Provide responsive support for employee and stakeholder payroll tax questions while delivering excellent customer service.
  • This role will require in-person attendance for New Hire Orientation on Day 1

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years Payroll experience)
  • 5 years' experience in tax specifically payroll tax.
  • 5 years experience working with external payroll vendors

Desired Characteristics:

  • Specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise with payroll systems; Workday payroll experience strongly preferred
  • Big 4 experience a plus from Deloitte, E&Y, PWC or KPMG

The base pay range for this position is$78,000-$97,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors,including the candidate27s experience, education, and skill set.This position is also eligiblefor an annual discretionary bonus based on apercentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.This posting isexpected to close onAugust 6th, 2026.
