Our national Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Tax group is an advisory practice with significant advancement opportunities. We advise private equity firms, family offices, privately held companies and multinational corporations on the tax aspects of planning, structuring and executing M&A transactions.
RSM US LLP is looking for a dynamic Financial Instruments Tax Senior Manager to join our Washington National Tax Practice. This is a rapidly growing consulting practice with significant advancement opportunities. We advise multinational corporations, privately held companies, partnerships, and private equity firms on the tax aspects of planning, structuring, and executing M&A transactions.
As a member of our Washington National Tax team, you would play a critical role providing advice to our clients and firm personnel in the areas of financial instruments, corporate, and M&A tax. In this role you would have the opportunity to advise on wide ranging issues such as recapitalization, restructuring and bankruptcy transactions, classification, sales, and exchanges of financial instruments, deductibility of interest, hedging transactions, and many others.
Responsibilities:
Work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team that focuses on delivering due diligence and tax structuring services, and communicates findings and opportunities to clients
Identify and develop high value tax opportunities for our clients
Assist clients on a range of financial instruments and related M&A tax issues such as recapitalization, restructuring and bankruptcy transactions, classification, sales, and exchanges of financial instruments, deductibility of interest, and hedging transactions
Planning, managing and executing on advice engagements with limited supervision
Develop, motivate, and train team members
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university
10+ years of federal tax with financial instruments and/or mergers and acquisition experience in a public accounting firm, a corporate tax department, or a law firm or comparable experience
Active CPA, EA or licensed attorney
Knowledge of a broad range of financial instruments and/or corporate tax matters in various industries
Project management and critical thinking skills
Excellent research and writing skills
Preferred Qualifications:
LLM in Taxation
Experience with a national or large regional accounting firm

The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $170,700 - $342,700
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
