Full Job Description

We’re currently seeking a Compliance & Tax Reporting Manager who will be responsibleforleading the Company’s corporate & indirect tax compliance across U.S. and Canadianjurisdictions, coordinating tax audits, and supporting tax planning and advisory activities. This role serves as the primary internal tax resource and works cross-functionally to ensure compliance and minimize tax risk. This is a hands-on manager-level position with one direct report.

How you will contribute:

  • Evaluate tax positions, compliance requirements, and audit matters, and develop recommended courses of action.
  • Prepare final recommendations and supporting analysis for review and approval by the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
  • Exercise independent judgment in day-to-day compliance and technical matters; escalate significant risks, policy decisions, and strategic tax issues to the CFO.
  • Serve asprimaryliaison with external advisors and tax authorities, coordinating positions and communications subject to CFO oversight.
  • Lead the preparation and filing of federal and state income tax returns, including but not limited to combined Federal and state 1120S, 1042-S, & 1099 OID).
  • Prepare and review supporting tax workpapers and documentation (e.g., M-1 adjustments, foreign source income, Forms 5471 and 8858, & state adjustments).
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors on return preparation, extensions, and technical matters.
  • Monitor federal and state tax law changes to ensure ongoing compliance and identify required filings
  • Amend prior year returns as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain tax reporting policies and procedures.
  • Oversee compliance for indirect taxes, including U.S. sales and use tax, Canadian GST/HST, PST/QST, and other jurisdictional requirements
  • Monitor nexus and evolving state and provincial tax requirements and implement new filings as required
  • Ensure proper application of tax exemptions and self-assessment processes on purchases
  • Review vendor exemption requests and issue appropriate certificates
  • Coordinate responses to tax authority inquiries and audits.
  • Coordinate tax audits and manage tax authority notices, data requests, documentation, audit responses, and external advisor coordination.
  • Evaluate tax positions, identify compliance risks, and develop recommended responses or planning opportunities for CFO review.
  • Support tax planning and advisory matters related to business initiatives, organizational changes, transfer pricing reviews, and other special projects.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource to the broader Accounting organization.
  • Manage corporate and regulatory compliance matters, including corporate annual reports, census reporting, and other governmental reporting obligations.
  • Oversee compliance with state escheatment rules, including reporting, submissions, and coordination with support areas that handle customer inquiries.
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, including GAAP and tax depreciation.
  • Partner with Accounting, Legal, and Purchasing to ensure alignment between operational processes and tax requirements.
  • Support system implementations, process improvements, and internal control enhancements affecting tax compliance.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives including reorganizations, transfer pricing reviews, and other special projects.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 6 6+ years of progressive accounting and tax experience
  • Experience with corporate income tax compliance, including Federal and state filings
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Must be familiar with regulations at the federal, state, and local level.
  • Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in a professional manner when dealing with employees, vendors and company contacts.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
