full-time remoteTax Manager to join our growing firm.
This position offers the opportunity to work directly with firm leadership and clients, take meaningful responsibility for client engagements, and contribute to a close-knit team while working remotely in a certified public accounting firm.
Position OverviewWe are looking for an experienced and motivated
Tax Manager to prepare and review a broad range of individual, business, estate, and trust income tax returns; provide tax planning and consulting services; manage client relationships; and mentor tax staff.
The ideal candidate has strong technical tax knowledge, excellent communication skills, and experience working with a variety of tax clients and return types. Experience in a small or mid-sized public accounting firm is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare complex individual, business, estate, and trust income tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1120-S, 1065, 1120, and 1041
- Manage and review individual, business, estate, and trust income tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1120-S, 1065, 1120, and 1041
- Prepare and review individual, business, estate, and trust income tax return projections
- Manage multiple client engagements and maintain proactive client communication
- Research complex federal and state income tax issues and develop practical solutions
- Identify and communicate tax planning opportunities and recommendations to clients
- Review financial statements and accounting records, including income tax basis financial statements
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to staff and senior accountants
- Assist with workflow planning, process improvement, and engagement profitability
- Stay current with changes in federal and state tax laws and communicate relevant developments to clients and staff
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation, or related field required
- Active CPA or EA license required
- 7+ years of progressive public accounting experience, including substantial tax preparation and review experience
- Strong technical knowledge of individual, S corporation, partnership, estate, and trust taxation
- Experience preparing and reviewing Form 1041 estate and trust income tax returns
- Strong tax research, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with Lacerte, QuickBooks Online, and other tax and accounting software is a plus
