Position Overview

This position will work with the other team members and outside tax firms to facilitate the preparation of investor K-1s for the managed funds, the GP and management company, which are issued to investors by the end of March each year, and Federal and state tax returns by their extended due dates. Develop strategies to minimize taxes and ensure federal, state, and international tax compliance. There will also be numerous other projects requiring attention throughout the year such as quarterly taxable income estimates and payment recommendations and the ongoing tax analysis of investments, exits, and restructures, including tax basis tracking.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the completion of the firm's annual tax process which produces the federal and state tax returns and schedule K-1s
  • Manage external service providers
  • Maintains a year-end tax process timetable
  • Maintains current knowledge of the U.S. tax laws specific to private credit, partnership federal, state and international tax; monitor and communicate the effect of proposed and enacted changes of these laws and helps create strategies capitalizing on those changes
  • Review, finalize and answer questions posed by senior management and stakeholders on tax structures, tax returns and K-1s
  • Work with external advisors to review and maintain documentation, entity classifications, GIINs, and global filing requirements under FATCA and Global CRS
  • Process and review estimated quarterly tax payments, extensions, and filings
  • Assist the tax director with all aspects of the tax compliance process for the funds, GPs and management company.
  • Work closely with the accounting team to oversee and support quarterly and annual tax reporting processes and accruals.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting / finance or related field
  • 5-7 years of relevant tax experience in public accounting, private equity, private debt, or a related financial services environment
  • Knowledge of international tax filings
  • Knowledge of credit funds and their relevant tax issues a plus CPA, MST or CMI preferred
  • Excellent tax research skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel
  • Analytical mindset with excellent organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. Team oriented personality
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
