  • Monitor new tax legislation and assess implications for the company.
  • Conduct research on complex tax matters relevant to the organization.
  • Interface with external service providers as the primary contact.

Full Job Description
Position Overview:

The Tax Manager assists with all aspects of CrossCountry Mortgage's (CCM) federal, state, and local tax compliance function. This role is responsible for preparing, reviewing, researching, documenting, and advising on complex tax matters, and ensuring CCM remains in compliance in all jurisdictions. The Tax Manager partners closely with the Tax Director and external service providers to provide complete and accurate tax returns and deliverables to various tax authorities. This role serves as a key subject matter expert on tax compliance and other tax matters related to CCM.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Support the preparation and review of federal, state, and local income tax returns / reports and supporting documentation.
  • Manage the monthly tax calendar and ensure timely filing of all returns and reports.
  • Review indirect tax returns and supporting workpapers, including sales & use, business personal property, and gross receipts tax in numerous tax jurisdictions.
  • Prepare monthly taxable income calculations, quarterly estimated tax payments, and member tax distributions.
  • Manage tax audits, analyze tax correspondence, and resolve outstanding tax issues in numerous tax jurisdictions.
  • Monitor new and pending tax legislation and document the tax implications for CCM.
  • Research and document tax technical matters relevant to CCM.
  • Serve as primary liaison with external service providers.
  • Work with direct reports to establish performance goals and objectives for each year; monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff members.
  • Participate in special projects, as needed.


Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Master of Taxation and/or CPA certification, preferred.
  • 6+ years of progressive tax experience, including public accounting.
  • Experience preparing tax returns and supporting schedules.
  • Experience evaluating and resolving complex tax matters.
  • Experience working with external advisors and managing tax relationships.
  • Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local tax reporting requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, including effectively communicating technical tax matters to non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Advanced analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills.
