We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Director to join our Private Client Services team within our Los Angeles practice!

CohnReznick is a hybrid firm and most of our professionals are located within a commutable distance to one of our offices. This position is considered remote which means it does not require job duties be performed within proximity of a CohnReznick office location. However, as a remote employee, you may be required to be present at a CohnReznick office with scheduled notice for client work, team meetings, or trainings.

YOUR TEAM.

This position is rooted within the Operating Partnerships, Flow Through Entities and Family Offices, Private Client Services practice with a focus on tax services for Family Offices. We work with clients to help them achieve their goals around complex financial matters tied to their business, individual and familial needs. The right candidate will own the attributes of executive presence and emotional intelligence, as well as having a growth mindset. They will also be eager to collaborate on client teams, thought leadership, webinars, and seminars while remaining results focused on assisting both internal and external clients in achieving their wide-ranging goals.

YOUR ROLE.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Review complex gift, estate and fiduciary income tax returns
  • Review fiduciary accountings for trusts and estates
  • Provide tax planning and consulting to high net worth clients for estate and individual income taxes
  • Read & summarize estate planning documents, as well as provide guidance on both federal & state income and death tax treatment
  • Research and consult on various estate, gift and trust related issues, such as trustee and beneficiary issues, tax impact of estate administration, and generation skipping tax issues
  • Help generate opportunities within existing clients, as well as meeting with and pursuing new clients
  • Prepare & present technical training to specialty group and core tax department
  • Have responsibility for managing all aspects of client relationships
  • Manage a team of professionals within the group to complete engagements from start to finish.

YOUR EXPERIENCE.

The successful candidate will have:
  • 12+ years of experience in public accounting industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's in Tax is a plus
  • CPA or JD is required
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive tax experience with trusts and estates, as well as high net worth clients
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a public accounting firm
  • Strong tax research skills
  • Ability to lead, manage and develop staff in a highly interactive team environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation (verbal and written) skills

In California, the salary range for a Tax Director is $225,000 - $325,000. Salary determination will vary based on factors such as a candidate's geographical location, qualifications, experience, skills, and competencies.
