About the Role

Redhorse transforms the way Department of War (DoW) utilizes data and technology. To support this mission, we are seeking a Program Managerto support the Department of War (DoW) in addressing Joint Operational Problems.

In this role, you will lead prototype development that accelerates innovation and modernization, ensuring the U.S. maintains a competitive edge against peer and near-peer adversaries. You will facilitate the rapid modernization of the force by leading multicomponent assessments and experimentation through a campaign of learning. This is a high-visibility role where your leadership directly impacts the digital and physical architecture of future defense capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the planning, development, and execution of major research, engineering, and development (R&D) efforts for defense organizations.
  • Direct a portfolio of technology programs exceeding $100M in value, overseeing the entire lifecycle from initial design and manufacturing to integration and testing.
  • Navigate and implement the DoW's Defense Acquisition System (DoD 5000 series) to move prototypes through the modernization pipeline.
  • Collaborate with R&E program managers and diverse stakeholders across the DoW to build support for experimental strategies and collect evidence for future force requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in highly classified environments, ensuring all program objectives are met within security protocols.
  • Provide executive-level briefings and communications to senior stakeholders, translating complex technical progress into strategic mission impacts.


Required Experience/Clearance

  • Must have an active TS/SCI security clearance and be eligible for Special Access Programs (SAP).
  • Program Leadership: 10+ years' experience as a lead or deputy Program Manager for major technology programs/portfolios exceeding $100M in value.
  • Defense R&D: 10+ years' experience managing and executing major research, engineering, and development efforts specifically for defense organizations.
  • Classified Environments: 5+ years' experience leading and operating within highly classified environments (SAP and SCI).
  • Acquisition Knowledge: 5+ years' experience with the DoW's Defense Acquisition System (DoD 5000 series) and DoW organizational structures.
  • Communication: 10+ years' experience in professional written and oral communication, specifically for leading cross-functional teams and briefing senior military or civilian leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following areas:
    • Systems Engineering
    • Aerospace Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Physical Sciences
    • Software Engineering
    • Cyber Engineering
    • AI/ML Engineering


Desire Experience

  • Contract Management: 10+ years' experience managing support services contracts of comparable size, scope, and complexity to large-scale DoW task orders.
  • Technical Domain Expertise: 5+ years' experience and foundational knowledge in the field of Electromagnetics and Radio Frequencies (EM/RF).
  • Stakeholder Engagement: 10+ years' experience establishing and maintaining strong, collaborative working relationships with diverse stakeholders across the Department of War.


$185,000 - $195,000 a year

The salary range provided for this position represents the anticipated base salary for successful candidates. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, security clearance level, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in Redhorse's comprehensive benefits programs and may be eligible for performance-based or other incentive compensation, where applicable.
