Full Job Description
PURVIS has a requirement for a Systems Trainer. The ideal candidate for this role would be a strong team player with ability to work in a team setting as well as individually. The candidate will train, brief, and certify systems and the crew onboard submarines and at all submarine ports. The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in a rapidly evolving environment is crucial. The candidate will regularly perform research and make recommendations for both software and hardware components. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required given the time-critical nature of the US Navy Submarine community. The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include: • Conduct Operating System training, configuration, and certification for a Windows and RHEL System onboard submarines. • Conduct system briefs to Commanding Officers and his crew. • Develop, maintain, test and repair Special Projects System Software and Hardware associated with NUWC Code 34 Special Projects Office. • Assist in the development of various TEMPALTS in support of Special Projects requirements. • Assisting in system preparation prior to shipment and installation. • Assist in creating and implementing testing procedures for RHEL and Windows systems. • Assisting in the installation of computer systems onboard submarines. • Performing cybersecurity scans. • Travel requirement for this position is 30%. Qualifications • Experience in Information Technology and 5 years of professional experience in submarine operations. Must demonstrate experience in curriculum development and implantation of Microsoft Windows Server 2019, Microsoft Windows 10, RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) 7. Must also have the following experience: • Ability to interface with senior military and civilian personnel to conduct onboard certification process • At sea operations on a deployed submarine • Common Submarine Radio Room (CSRR) equipment configurations • 2-3 Years in Windows Administration • 2-3 Years in Linux (RHEL) Administration • Strong verbal and written skills • Ability to think outside of the box. Candidate should also be familiar with the following technologies: • 2-3 years working with Virtual Machine Hypervisors (KVM/QEMU, VMWare, etc.) • 2-3 years working with switches and routers (virtual or physical) • iPXE or PXE • Postfix/Dovecot • ACAS/Nessus/SCCP Security compliance scanning Must be able to obtain IAT certifications such as: • CompTIA A+ • CompTIA Sec+ • RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) Position requires a government security clearance to the TOP SECRET/SCI level.
